one is currently about to be pushing on into the east bay shoreline and the view of the shoreline fromr east bay hills right here, looking pretty gray right about now. let's time it all out for us. the radar. you are showing that little multiple lines of showers pushing in some of the heaviest of rainfall has already been seen. so we are going to see a tapering off for most of us after this point. but right here in the core of the bay, this is the line i'm talking about. that is pushing right up there. right along 5, 80 80 right from san jose all the way up towards oakland. now this is coming along with the heavy burst of rain and some stronger winds and we'll continue to push further inland from walnut creek, tri valley on up to signal. so if you are in these areas, watch for it a little bit calmer to the north, though, if you're looking at areas like the zooming out towards marin and sonoma counties, not a lot going on up there anymore. so this energy is shifting further southward gradually and as it does so the rainfall along with it 40's 50's for current temps. it's wet and it's mi

lighter traffic throughout the east bay right now. starting to build, out of the altamont a little more slowing for west 580. vasco we had two spots highlighted by our traffic partners. vasco road, two crashes, but the slowing is between the two. it's dipping below 10 miles per hour. i am reading that closer to camino diablo there is a head-on crash involving a truck. we'll keep monitoring. right now the southbound lanes have been stopped and that's likely one crash between those two landmarks. that is a delay for brentwood and discovery bay getting toward 580. very important drive for contra costa county. we're looking at another crash in fremont, southbound 680. looks like everything should get off to the shoulder but we'll keep tracking that. the volume is going to start to build in that section coming off the dublin interchange. back to you. >> thank you very much, mike. >>> 5:43 right now. long-time fans of the radio station wild 94.9 are growing more and more concerned about a beloved morning deejay who hasn't been seen for days.

police in the east bay. they're still looking for the driver or drivers who hit several bicyclist on friday in oakland. they hit them in berkeley and emeryville. this is a story we first brought you yesterday morning. kron 4 sarah stinson has the latest on this investigation. >> i spoke with a bicyclist who lives in oakland. he was on his way home friday night from the east bay bike party when he was struck by a car and now he has to get surgery of nowhere. came this >> brooke, by much. but yeah, super russell heller was struck by a car on grand avenue in oakland around 11, 30 friday night after attending the east bay bike party. a monthly gathering for bicyclists all over the east. bay heller says this is the car that hit him. cell phone video and launch road driving very close to cyclists and then opening its door onto bikers nearly hitting them. you could even see someone's head popping out of the car. in one part of the video, this is one of the 2 cars that cyclists described being hit with and targeted b

the coast and that could be moving toward half moon bay. this activity is starting to spread in. around the peninsula, parts of the north bay, but it will be heading toward the east bay, as well as the south bay, with a soggy morning adding up on the very high rainfall totals we've had. because the ground is saturated, those puddles will be coming up quickly and may have impacts on your drive around the bay area. going into this afternoon, we are seeing another wave of rain in time for the evening commute for parts of the bay area and clearing out eventually by tomorrow morning. so far, even though the rain is just getting going, mike says the commute is smooth. >>> we'll give a live shot in oakland. the nimitz traffic volume starting to build. you see the camera move a tad bit. there's some wind here. wind advisory issued by chp across the golden gate bridge and san rafael. we see the rain causing damp roadways and the index is green. the blue over here behind me, that's in the north bay and that is showing where there's more puddling and ponding, and that's likely to keep happening along the peninsula, pushing toward the east bay. travel times here for some of

the distance. showers moving well into the bay area. now north bay all across the north bay, you're in the midst of it. same for the peninsula in the east. zooming in a little bit further. you see some of the heaviest of showers. most notably are right there along highway one at the coast between pacifica and half moon bay. but the energy shifting into our peninsula mountains are right over them on towards sfo and into the city of san francisco. so rainfall intensity is picking up for a whole lot of areas. this is making for a very wet morning commute already now increasingly so for the east bay already having been so for the north bay and that heaviest of rain, the easy to spot from san francisco down the peninsula. those shades of yellow, orange and red indicating that very heaviest of rainfall right now. so a lot going on out there. if you are leaving the house here shortly, do know that it's not super cold. it's just a very wet. we are of a slick morning commute ahead of us. so take it slow or if you're getting outside at our very coal dust, it's only the low 40's while most of us, especially along the bayshore hanging on to 50's ri

the north bay, about to taper off for santa rosa. a few more minutes in napa. we're seeing some of the heavier rain moving through the east, through union city, toward the tri-valley. also around fremont as well. where it's really been dumping down is the peninsula and this is where we may have higher rainfall totals extending toward san mateo and woodside. and for san jose, it's a lot lighter but starting to pick up quite a bit in morgan hill and gilroy. we are going to see more waves of rain coming through but the heaviest moving through right now. as we go toward 9:00 to 10:00, we start to see it lightening up for most of us. notice these spotty showers that may still linger into today. but even as we go into tonight it's going to stay mostly cloudy. the rain really doesn't completely leave the bay area. by tomorrow at noon there still could be showers in parts of the north bay and then rolling right back into tomorrow evening as the second storm system for the weekend arrives and moves through with some heavier rain that may also continue throughout much of the day on sunday for some spots. there could be breaks here

winter storm warnings take effect today at 04:00pm for elevations above 1000 feet like the south bay mountains, the east bay hills in the north bay hills. tonight's the night that we're going to see snow levels low drop the lowest frost advisories and freeze warnings in expected it. and in effect, as we speak right now and snow level tonight getting even lower. keep your eye out for some flurries tomorrow morning. if you're up around mount hamilton, multiple feet of snowfall, multiple inches for the north bay and east bay mountains. now, pockets of rainfall continue on and off through the day today. we will see snow remaining for the most part above 1000 feet today. heavy pockets of rain fall tonight and snow level dropping down to in some cases as low as 8, even 500 feet in elevation. that's when areas like the twin peaks may see a few flurries this evening. as far as rain goes, we've got another inch of it this week and another one to 2 inches on top of that into next week. so a pretty busy forecast. winds are going to be calmer today than they have been but still gusting 20 to 30 miles per hour. and

the south bay headed for 62 degrees in milpitas. yesterday it was almost 70 degrees for a lot of these spots in the south bay. for the east bay, we'll reach 59 degrees in walnut creek and 59 for oakland. upper 50s and low 60s for much of the peninsula into san francisco. a chilly day with gusty winds. and for the north bay, sonoma will reach 57 degrees for a high temperature. here's the cold front that's going to make a huge difference in the way it feels for you out here this weekend. as we are seeing some of the showers moving farther to the north approaching the bay area, we'll start to see that moving into the north bay by 3:00 to 4:00 with santa rosa getting some brief heavy downpours there. it looks like a lot of the rain falls apart after it moves out of the north bay, so much of the rest of the bay area will not see that wet weather, but there will be a slight chance. early tomorrow morning, the system is making its way closer. we can see the rotation in some of the showers on the models, so it does show that even parts of the peninsula, the south bay as well as the east bay could see some rain by tomorrow morning

mid 60's off to the east bay mid-sixties up to the north bay. although now the coming in at 54 east bay shoreline has a lot of mid 50's at work here 60. meanwhile, 4 san jose. so the first part of the program will be those chilly but going to be quite active until we get into tomorrow morning, as you will notice a good, strong northwesterly wind in the coverage area officially, as you can see is along the coastal strip. other areas will be impacted by this inland as well. now post all of that, we're left with the dry air, the clear skies. we lose the winds and windshield areas, particularly we got a freeze. watch. that means watching for temperatures to brush about freezing or could do a little bit below that as well. good coverage area as well. and we're looking for some upper 20's for overnight lows with all of this. what happens for the week ahead? kind of interesting again, this little system of our backyard, a toss some flakes around just a bit in the east bay hills, just a touched a lot of moisture with this and everybody else a couple scat

as for the east bay getting close to 70 and a lot of spots. hayward, 68 castro valley at 69 oakland and richmond. 66 and a few more 70's for you up in the north bay, vacaville fairfield, as well as santa rosa. just a few spots right at 70 degrees. now tomorrow, we are still pretty nice. it's just low 60's. a noticeable cool down and noticeably windier for your tuesday wednesday. even cooler yet barely making the 50's chance of a few isolated sprinkles thursday and friday is when the real change arrives. upper 40's to low 50's for your daytime highs and cold rain showers. temperatures will be cold enough for snowfall in some of our bay area. mountaintops saturday and sunday will dry out just in time for the weekend before even more cold rain into monday, tuesday and wednesday of next week. all right, john, thank you for that. let's check on your bridges this morning. an 8 minute drive into the city may so that fremont street exit. >> your san mateo bridge 80 to 1, 0, one, 13 minutes traveling across towards the peninsula. a richmond center fell

well, right now we know that this is the oldest black church in the east bay. it's known in the community has fame or first am. but take a look at this horrific scene. this was the first african methodist episcopal church in oakland last night. it sits near the corner of 37, the telegraph avenue, oakland fire department responded to calls of an outside fire near the church that was around 11 30. they arrived to flames on the side of the building heading for the eaves of the building. within 90 minutes. it grew to the second floor and also that roof. now they called in more than 60 firefighters to the scene and the 3 ladder trucks putting the team into defense firefight mode. >> ending in a 3 alarm fire. no injuries were reported and the cause is still unknown by 3 o'clock. this morning, the pastor of the church said that all that was standing where the 4 walls of the building. >> it's just devastating. not only for operation the city. we have signed dated community anybody in the city. so it's going to be a great visible located. well, at a loss for. >> now, aga

we're going to see this quickly racing through from the north bay all the way to the east bay, and alsogo into the afternoon to evening hours. basically at any point today we could see some rain coming in, thunderstorms, we're looking at a wintery mix as you go up in elevation, and then also the possibility of hail and graupel. so we want to get your pictures of what you're seeing where you live, because we want to help you decipher what type of precipitation it is. and there will be another wave of some heavier rain by late tomorrow morning, off and on, and throughout this whole period we're looking at the possibility of anywhere from about an inch to an inch and a half of rainfall. the ground, once again, pretty saturated at this point, and we are going to see more rain on top of that increasing our impacts. very big impact storm for the sierra as well. all of this lit up in red is a blizzard warning, and that means near zero visibility and high winds. that's going to blow around that snow. we're also looking at several feet of snow falling over the next few days between now and wedne

in the south bay, east bay, we see rain moving in. it will continue and intensify as we go through the next couple of hours or so. so let's time it for you hour by hour on this sunday. north bay, 9:30, we see some of that rain, mixed in with snow. rain/snow mix around this area. going to see a few chances of snow on the mountains today. more on the way for tomorrow. right now at lunchtime, we see that rain intensifying over san francisco, the east bay, and down here in the south bay, we could see some sprinkles. look at 2:00, 3:00, the north bay gets a break and we start to see some of that rain intensify over the santa cruz mountains, san jose, fremont, into livermore, as well. by the evening time, looks good. morning commute on monday, looks sloppy. 7:30, we see some rain and snow in the north bay. oakland over the bay bridge, snan, going to see rain at 8:00, 9:00. then it picks up speed and the storm is different in nature as it becomes colder, giving us the possibility where you see the yellows and oranges, the possibility of hail,

the south bay. you can see the spotty showers here right in the north bay. not a big deal yeah and we are looking at precipitation over the eastso it has been one of those mornings where we are seeing showers ahead of the system. noticing that the systems offshore will be working their way into the bay area for the first couple days of the work week. 48 san francisco and oakland with 46 in santa clara. temperatures in the upper 40's, and from santa cruz, the santa fe camera, colder storm for tomorrow. chance of thunderstorms and tuesday, another area of moisture. snow levels even lower and there was a discussion talking about perhaps another snow advisory as we get into monday and tuesday. here we are midday and you can see the moderate rain along the coast into the east bay just beginning to push into the south. then he pushes through the bay area with some clearing overnight. by 9:00 on monday, the stronger front, the breezy wind. could see wind advisory as well accompanied with the colder air. could see some thunderstorms late in the day in the north bay. by tuesday, here we go again. tuesday morning, heavier downpour. that

and you can see here, the bulk of it is really concentrate along the peninsula and in the south bay in the east bay. we've got about 76 customers without power. pretty minor. the north bay. we're looking at a couple 100 san francisco 179 people without power. but again, it's the peninsula and the so let's focus in on that in the south bay. we're looking at about 2600 customers without power. most of that minor. that's what all these little re creen dots represent. the peninsula, though, which is the bulk of the outages this morning. 21,000 customers without power, you can see it really does stretch the entire peninsula from san francisco all the way down down in palo alto. let's zoom in on where we're seeing the highest concentration. again, just a reminder that continues to be this area near the dunbarton bridge, menlo park, palo alto atherton. really that whole section between 1, 1, to 80. we're going to keep an eye on that. in fact, later on, we're going to chat with kron four's michael thomas. he's there giving us a look this morning at what conditions are like and will visit with him comin
