this is at the top of the hour. phoenix sky harbor has just a if you spotlight buckeye is where the rain started out initially this morning. we did end up with just over a quarter inch of rain. the rest of the valley is under a 10th of an inch for most spots except for the west valley. it has been fairly light so far. there is a chance for more wet weather and some thunderstorms as we go into this afternoon. that is the view right now in scottsdale as the showers track the the northeast valley now. you can see the visibility is reduced. we typically can see camel point. the showers come down and they are visible on our mayo clinic valley cam. temperature-wise, we are right at 82 degrees. showers are pushing through and not cooling us down too much. the dew points have been bumping up. in the 70s at the west valley. upper 60s in phoenix. it is muggy but there is some relief heading our way. drier air will move in by tomorrow. that will bring the dew points later on. we have to track the rain chances through the day-to-day. t

you can see the phoenix police squad, that suv. that's where this happened at that apartment complex. phoenix police telling us a man sword. that sword was strapped to his arm. they tried to use bean bags to try to make him stop. and unfortunately, that wasn't working and they had to open fire. this actually started yesterday when the suspect's own mother called police. she was saying her son was acting psychotic. they found out he had a felony warrant out. again last night at 10:00 the mom called police son was back at the apartment complex. he was saying he assaulted a guy there. and police came out and there was a brief standoff. and police did everything possible to try to get him to stop. >> the tools were deployed but not effective. the man was charging add officers and as a last resort, they had to resort to deadly force. >> it's possible the police administrative leave. and we're also expecting the identity of the suspect to be released later today. justin pazera, abc15 news. >> that was our second shooting of the day yester

and light showers across the phoenix metro. overall, rainfall amounts look to stay under a quarter of an inch in most spots across is it valley. it's out to the west where we'll see higher amounts between a quarter of an inch and a half inch of rain. in the valley, not cause major flooding concerns, but enough to slow you down. that boost in moisture coming from what was hurricane payne, now a tropical storm. and that will move to the north, northeast. and continue to weaken, likely weakening before it makes landfall over the baja peninsula, and the remnants moving to our state. the moisture ahead of it is bringing us the higher rain chances today. and over the next couple of chances stay in the forecast. plan on scattered showers through the day. and tomorrow looking warm and humid with a slight chance of showers and storms. and we keep a slight chance of storms in the forecast. and by friday, cooler air moves in the we start to dry out as we head to the weekend. and we'll see that reflected on the 7-day forecast. 91 today and
