the good news, it will remain a tropical storm. fun facts. it's very rare for a hurricane to be found in hawaii. the last tropical storm alone was omeka in 2010. last hurricane, 1992. definitely good news. hurricane flossie, there have one in 1997 in hawaii. the other thing everybody was talking about is dorian. we expected this guy to break apart and he did. it ripped apart what was left of dorian. no longer is it being called dorian. 50% chance it could be developed. likely to rip apart. that will not be lasting. that is the good news at least in the atlantic. then we showed you the rain. unbelievable amounts of rain in philly last night, 8.02 inches of rain. that is breaking the record all time for one 12-hour period. that is exactly what they saw yesterday. for july, 13 inches of rain for the month, also a record. it was impressive. the storm has pushed on through. plenty of flooding in the area. here is the low. something should be drying out. not only the northeast but also in the southeast. scattered showers are possible. 4 to 6 inches

looking across the ocean though, well, we have our latest tropical storm. tropical storm erick. now, it's pulling off towards the west really following in the same weather pattern we've been seeing in the eastern pacific. actually, this is dalila, it's really not much left of that now. now this storm system it's going to continue to follow that same track, moving away from the coastline. it formed a little closer to the coastline. so we have these tropical storm warnings in effect around acapulco, you could be seeing high waves. definitely stay out of the waters. rip currents are also going to be very dangerous with it. it is going to continue to track out to sea before gradually weakening. farther towards the north also watching heavy rainfall across much of the east coast especially around the appalachians, florida pan hapd l two to three millimeters reported in the past 48 hours alone. it is really coming down. some of these storms are quite strong with gusty winds even extending towards toronto and southern ontario, you have these showers here as well. this is going to be cre

we talked about the tropical moisture plumes moving northward. rain coming down and thunderstorms off the shore of san diego. as we come in close, there's san jose and you see the clouds moving up from the south, giving you some filtered sunshine up by evergreen and gilroy and morgan hill. around the coast, there's your fog. with those two combined, temperatures dropped a good 10 degrees, even more in other places. we had 101 yesterday in livermore. right now it's 85 degrees. so temperatures clearly on the cool side. the marine layer stretches out, going into many bay area neighborhoods. it's cleaning up the air quality and lessening the fire danger. the computer model, there's the southerly clouds. and then tomorrow morning, there's rain showing up way down there. look at the line of clouds. this is tomorrow morning. and then tomorrow afternoon, clouds go away. even at the coast, we should see clearing. so the computer model takes the tropical moisture and moves it out of the area. 90's for the inland valleys. tomorrow's temperatures a lot like t

but down to the south we have a tropical depression moving across the philippines. it is triggering up heavy showers, even the risk of flooding and landslides out here. you can see on the satellite, the broad area of cloud cover pushing to the northwest. not really an intense storm system, it's not organized at all. but there is the center of circulation and it is continuing to push the moisture onshore across portions of luzon, down towards versai, risk of flooding, landslides, 100 to 200 millimeters could be expected in the next 24 hours. also bringing in the southwest monsoon over the indochina peninsula. portions of northern thailand will be seeing the risk of flooding as it pushes to the west and the tropical depression works to the north. north of that things are on the hot side across chongqing, shanghai, 37 and 38 for you. northeastern china, on the other hand, some areas could see about 100 millimeters of rainfall going into tuesday. even out towards wednesday, even seoul will be seeing some showers, it's the stationary boundary, the same one bringing the f

tonight i told you we would start with the tropical storm chantal and the latest update has just come in. they've weakened it. it's south of puerto rico although they do have a tropical storm warning for puerto rico and they're probably going to get 3-6 inches of rain out of it. the thing that doesn't change with the storm is it's moving fast at 28 miles an hour. if it's going to produce a lot of rain, let's get it past haiti and the dominican republic because of people that still have a problem with housing there. unfortunately it will pass over haiti tomorrow night but 3-6 inches of rain is possible. then we'll see it coming through the bahamas. now i know this track is going to look scary but we don't know really what's going to happen after it passes over haiti. it might weaken so much that it will fall apart. you can see the cone gets wide as we look at an possible landfall here in georgia sometime sunday. so i still would not if you've got beach plans headed to the outer banks don't give up on those plans yet because let's see what happens after tomorrow night with this system.
