it has been downgraded to a tropical depression. that is because the wind speeds are below 40 miles per hour. now we are seeing 30 miles per hour sustained winds. that is what differentiates it from a tropical storm. it is moving into the overnight hours moving really, really slowly. it is only moving at 15 miles per hour. so that's is big problem right now. we are seeing the heavy raining surrounding this tropical depression and the winds you saw. when it it is here and just parks over these islands for several hours moving slowly out of the area, we are going to see several inches ofoff. there is a flash flood watch in effect until tuesday night. it is already past the islands well on its way out of there by 5:00. soy would expect that flash flood watch to really expire at about 5:00 or 6:00. we will see the islands battered by rainfall and winds and we will keep you posted on any damage reported. pam? >> well it is causing problems for travels across the country. at sfo, flights into and out of hawaii have been canceled. passengers trying to rebook

the good news, it will remain a tropical storm. fun facts. it's very rare for a hurricane to be found in hawaii. the last tropical storm alone was omeka in 2010. last hurricane, 1992. definitely good news. hurricane flossie, there have one in 1997 in hawaii. the other thing everybody was talking about is dorian. we expected this guy to break apart and he did. it ripped apart what was left of dorian. no longer is it being called dorian. 50% chance it could be developed. likely to rip apart. that will not be lasting. that is the good news at least in the atlantic. then we showed you the rain. unbelievable amounts of rain in philly last night, 8.02 inches of rain. that is breaking the record all time for one 12-hour period. that is exactly what they saw yesterday. for july, 13 inches of rain for the month, also a record. it was impressive. the storm has pushed on through. plenty of flooding in the area. here is the low. something should be drying out. not only the northeast but also in the southeast. scattered showers are possible. 4 to 6 inches

tonight i told you we would start with the tropical storm chantal and the latest update has just come in. they've weakened it. it's south of puerto rico although they do have a tropical storm warning for puerto rico and they're probably going to get 3-6 inches of rain out of it. the thing that doesn't change with the storm is it's moving fast at 28 miles an hour. if it's going to produce a lot of rain, let's get it past haiti and the dominican republic because of people that still have a problem with housing there. unfortunately it will pass over haiti tomorrow night but 3-6 inches of rain is possible. then we'll see it coming through the bahamas. now i know this track is going to look scary but we don't know really what's going to happen after it passes over haiti. it might weaken so much that it will fall apart. you can see the cone gets wide as we look at an possible landfall here in georgia sometime sunday. so i still would not if you've got beach plans headed to the outer banks don't give up on those plans yet because let's see what happens after tomorrow night with this system.
