reporter: tim johns, abc7news liz: the storm could put a damper on holiday shopping. an outdoor shopping destination had shoppers eager to be to the storm. john smith plan early to beat the weekend. >> i tried to be to the rain, beat the crowds. do what you can, get it done. reporter: if you are willing to brave the rain, it may be worth it. next saturday will be the busiest christmas shopping day so that could mean good deals but it will also certainly made a big crowds. travelers heading to the sierra should plan for a snow weekend. resorts are preparing for crowds and taking precautions. at boreal mountain, staff will monitor safety conditions. they recommend people ski or ride with a buddy. >> it is going to be powder town. we have a lot of snow coming through, anywhere from 24 -- 24 inches to 36 inches. liz: the snow this month and last is setting them up for a great ski season. if you aren't there already, caltrans does not recommend travel to the sierra during the storm this weekend. driving conditions will be difficult and potentially impossible in some places.
