taken to walter reed friday night. the medical team treating the president aggressively. and the president's doctor confirming today that the president did receive oxygen twice since testing positive for covid. the president's doctor also saying late today he may not be entirely out of the woods yet for something this early in his course of treatment. in fact, the doctors said, we won't know until next weekend, several days from now, truly how the president will fare from this, given the normal course from the virus. but tonight, the president is going back to the white house, and this evening, the growing number. at least 18 people now connected to the president have tested positive. 11 of them at that rose garden event introducing judge amy coney barrett, including hope hicks, three senators, and just today, we learned press secretary kaylie mcnanny have tested positive in the west wing. the president tweeting about leaving walter reed, telling the american people, "don't be afraid of covid. don't let it dominate you

he's also traveled to walter reed before by car. but he will be traveling via marine one to walter reed to get some sort of advanced care from what is available at the white house. your reaction, ben? >> to echo what's been said, i worked in the white house for eight years and frankly, my doctors are the white house doctors. and i was treated in that medical unit. but i was treated for minor things. i think people shouldn't overstate the medical capacity at the white house. in fact, if you wanted a full physical, like just a physical you would get from your doctor or your primary caregiver, they would send you up to walter reed. the white house medical department is basically an office. i think it demonstrates, i think people watching will see the severity of this disease. and it was possible, if you were just consuming information from the president and from some of the more friendly news outlets that he has, that this disease was somehow not as serious. and one thing that could come out of this is people recogni recognizing people

walter reed is a terrific place to get care. certainly the president has a great unit in which he is cared for but is this a missed opportunity. people look up to the president and you want the president to model the type of behavior that you want other people to have. we certainly don't want others who have been diagnosed with covid or under quarantine to be going outside and exposing others to risk. we certainly don't want to expose people like secret service agents. as secretary, i had a big security detail, they've become family. these are high risk jobs. you don't want to put them at higher risk than that. most importantly, this is so disappointing, this is a great moment of teaching for the country. we have a president who not only has gotten this illness but so many of his staff and other members of government. to be able to make the point that this is a very contagious illness, this is serious, should be treated seriously, and people have to respect it, we're missing this as an opportunity to come together under a common
