yes, this doctor obviously hadn‘t seen a deaf, blind medic on the ward before and didn‘t really knowy. it was the day that actually i came home and for the first time doubted whether i could do medicine with a disability. what other comments have you received? shortly after this comment, another doctor came up to me and said what are you doing with the patient‘s cane? so i had to explain that the cane was in fact mine because i‘m registered blind, and theyjust looked at me in disgust and said, i don‘t want you touching any of the patients. goodness me. they immediately assume that because i was a medical student, i can‘t be visually impaired or hearing impaired. then i was on a ward round and i had asked the doctor to speak a little louder and instead of sort of understanding and speaking a little clearer for me, they just walked away and went to a colleague and said, how do you expect an invalid like her to run the nhs? how do you react to those comments? i almost knew before medical school that i would face discrimination because it‘s not common for a visually and hearing impaired

. >> jackie ward has the latest. jackie? >> reporter: just about 20 minutes ago, the lockdowns for both of the schools were lifted following an early morning shooting. you can see the students are outside of ridgeway high school now. the two schools are basically next to each other. police confirm this is not an active shooter situation. police say just before 9:00 this morning, they received calls of shots fired just outside the ridgeway high school campus. they say some sort of fight happened at the intersection of ridgeway and morgan street. that is not on campus. students told police they saw someone enter ridgeway high school campus and out of an abundance of caution, they locked down the school campuses ridgeway and santa rosa. shortly after that, a 17-year- old boy took himself to a trauma center and was treated for a single gunshot wound to his abdomen. he is listed as stable. police are searching for the weapon used in the shooting. >> we have multiple officers doing a systematic search throughout the school campus
