cal perry, thank you.that have emerged from these twin bombings. olivia? >> thank you, brian. many muslims coming out to pay tribute tonight, trying to make the point that even though they might be of middle eastern descent, they are also muslim. muslims who are from other parts of the world don't feel welcome here. i spoke to a mother over in molenbeek whose son left belgium two years ago to go fight with isis and was actually killed. and i said, what do you think was the cause? what radicalized your son. and she said he simply didn't feel like he had a place here in belgium. he felt marginalized. at first, he started becoming more religious, which she approved of, she supports religion, then he started talking more about palestine and syria and that's when things got more serious. have a listen. >> after he says a problem in syria, then it was more aggressive. it was speaking, i'm a muslim, there are muslim, nobody of them. i can't stay, and they are suffering. and no state will have them. i must do it.

msnbc's cal perry has been talking to voters.have you been hearing about senator marco rubio and the other candidates? >> reporter: first, this is an incredibly large voting group. imagine about 6,000 people come from the island of puerto rico hoohere in florida. we are talking about 700,000 votes and in a close election that could swing it either way. we spent the morning talking to rafael, a community organizer trying to get the voting bloc organized. we asked him about marco rubio and he expressed serious disappointment in the florida senator. >> there have been multiple meetings in the past two years with marco rubio but we haven't been able to get his support for chapter 9. people don't trust him anymore. you wonder what side is he in. >> reporter: chapter 9 is that protection from what is massive debt from the island of puerto rico for so many of these folks enjoying dinner and live music. they have been telling us the trump message is going to let them leap frog the primary. so many are not going to vote in the primary but

trying to carry this momentum into the next week. >> cal perry in seattle, washington. very much, appreciate it. joining me now from washington is joel connelly, reporter for the seattle post intelligencer. tell us what it is about washington state. cal did mention the fact that it's quite a liberal state. is this one that hillary clinton has ever had any chance of winning? >> the clintons courted washington state from 1991 until 2008 when barack obama blew away hillary. it now appears that even though it's weeks away from the start of the wildfire season, the state is doing a burn. i've been getting reports from around the state. senator sanders is running very, very well. i imagine the clintons would have had a little better chance had hillary gone places other than mansions for very pricey fund-raisers. she's had one public event in the state ft last eight years. the view of her we normally get is somebody jumping into an suv, which goes roaring out of the sight, rather than somebody sitting and listening and holding any public events. >> very interesting. and let's t

msnbc cal perry joins us this morning from new orleans.morning, how are you affecting the primary there today? are voters saying about that? >> reporter: i think it's the economy stupid, the old bill clinton line. the state is facing a $1 billion deficit and likely to double next year. it's a big issue on both sides of the parties, both republicans and democrats. we've seen a lot of recent stumping from republicans. we had cruz and trump give rival rallies yesterday and bill clinton was stumping for his wife hillary, yesterday, as well. let me give you a look here at the sample ballot here in louisiana and i think, i can get you in to look at the actual ballot here. this is the louisiana state ballot. it's got some local parish executives here, as well as the presidential candidates there. a lot of people presidential candidates still on the ballot. they haven't dropped off yet and filed that paperwork. but as you sort of eluded to, a lot of this is about the economy. this is a state in an economic crisis. that has been the case for really

sanders was in seattle last night, where msnbc's cal perry is tracking the caucus for us. al, behind you are empty seats right now, but that place will be witnessing democracy in action in short order. that said, it's a holiday weekend. might that affect turnout? >> reporter: i don't think so. my prediction is you'll see this room packed with about 500 people. we'll give you a look at the room. the volunteers are getting people ready. they'll open those doors and start the process at 10:00 a.m. eastern, 1:00 p.m. your time. they'll take an initial vote, then they'll have a bit of a conversation, a bit of democracy in action, as you said, then they'll take that second volt. we expect the whole process to last about 90 minutes, when they hope to get the election starting to move, the results, excuse me, getting out to the public at that point. looking at about a five or six-hour process in total. it's all about turnout, alex. like you said, we should have a pretty good idea who is doing better, bernie or hillary clinton, depending on that turnout. >> what about coming into th

cal perry is msnbc's senior editor for digital and video content. he's in tampa. the day after the north carolina rally. look, i know that was the rnc site in 2012, behind where you are right now. what's the expectation? what are you expecting for donald trump, and maybe more importantly, from the crowd later on today? >> we are expecting the unexpected. we're monitoring the digital space, obviously. there's auld been a facebook posting from anti-trump rallies. they expect a march which will take place. the satellite trucks are already forming up, going through the normal security procedures. this post said marchers would come from about five minutes away. they're going to march on the convention center. they're going to try to time it for about 11:30 a.m., about two and a half hours before the rally. the trump rally expected to take place at 2:00 p.m. they never really start on time. the interesting thing is he holds everything close to the chest. we don't know in what room the rally will take place, how many people will be there. we assume it will be in one of t
