let's speak with mike martin, a former british army officer. now with kings college london. mike. so ukraine, obviously, deeply unhappy about this. can you tell us what this is going to mean for ukraine with russia in charge of setting the agenda? i think the best way of looking at this is that over the last year they have been to, to was a one is war rhetoric and the other is a war that's actually being fought on the ground over territory. and as we've seen a little here that has been a lot of rhetoric, there's been lots of talk with nuclear weapons. there's been lots of talk of all sorts of things and most of them haven't come to pass. so if i were you crane, of course they have to protest about this, but i don't think it will amount to very much on the ground, which is where the real fight is being for. so you see this as largely symbolic, not something that will have actual implications on the battle ground. that is correct. so for example, you know, russia can set the gender of the security council, so they might bring emotion that is in their favor. but there are other, you

mike wilson says profit forecast haven't been reflected in the market. you have earnings estimates still holding up. that could swing plane why equities keep holding up. can that continue as number start trickling out? gina martindams joins us now. gina, who is right? equity or bond markets? >> look, i actually do not think the equity and bond markets are telling you two different stories. i think they are telling you the same starry -- same story. both markets are anticipating a recession deep enough to crush the back of inflation and allow the fed to reverse interest rate policy. our -- would suggest as a bluster, the equity market was suggesting a 15% decline in earnings. analysts have been catching up to that decline in earnings expectation embedded in marketplaces -- market prices. the movement has been about valuation expansion. our market models suggest valuation expansion is dependent on the rate of inflation and interest rates. to me, the equity and bond market are telling you the same thing. they are telling you recession is coming, but recession is going to result in much lower inflation pressures and a reversal in fed policy rates. from that perspective, maybe they are both wrong because inflation i
