san jose. you go north of there and we for the most part, haven't seen a single drop just yet. here's a look at where we're sitting. you do see areas like los saratoga, san jose, santa clara, down towards gilroy and morgan hill, all in the midst of rainfall, heavier rain really up in the santa cruz mountains. you are going to be big winner today. areas like felton up in those higher elevations around the redwoods. that's where we're going to see a decent amount of rain. aside from that, the golden gate bridge is kind of the line where it doesn't cross north of that. you may see an isolated sprinkle or 2 north of the golden gate. but most of our rainfall is very south bay centric today. as we do move into the afternoon, we will see a few isolated pop-up showers here and there towards the very close of the day and into tomorrow, too. tomorrow itself is predominantly dry with just a few morning pop-up showers here. and there santa rosa, literally maybe just a drop of water today. oakland, a few light showers are possible. well, san jose around a half an inch of rainfall from today

san jose. a couple of sprinkles made it into alameda and san mateo counties. but north much other than a few misty spots. we're already seeing a little bit of clearing northward san jose southward still holding on to rain right along 101 morgan hill and gilroy and already starting to dry out along highway 17 today is going to grow increasingly clear and even some sunshine later on this afternoon overnight tonight into tomorrow morning, we will see some spotty showers in the mix. very unsettled into the start of your thursday. thursday itself will clear out, but not before that limited chance of rain in the morning. you can obviously see where the rainfall is really centered on arrays, already seen a dose of rain and we'll continue to see another 3 quarters of an inch of it areas in the bay hardly seeing a drop. now next week is a total different story monday into tuesday, a very significant system starting to line up with the models to show extreme of the rainfall across the north coast. that could result in some flooding. so the national weather service already has its

north bay. the numbers kind of reflect that. the expectation here, with the bulk of the rainfall focused down towards san jose, morgan hill and ben lohman. not too much action up in the north bay, up towards santa rosa. and then in the thursday we'll continue to add to those totals. once again, the focus in the southern half of the bay area. here is the satellite for today, though. it's definitely picking up on all the cloud cover and even a few sprinkles. a few light showers across portions of the region. but right now we actually have some breaks in the clouds. so partly to mostly cloudy skies for this afternoon. current numbers out there, mainly in the 50s to the lower 60s. napa currently 61, palo alto upper 50s and livermore checking in 60 degrees. here's our live camera above san francisco, where you can see some clouds, but also some breaks in the clouds as we head into your tuesday evening. overnight, we'll bring temperatures back down to the 40s and the chance of some showers. a slight chance up in the north bay. better chances closer to san jose, morgan hill and gilroy. that's what our forecast model is showing tomorrow

north bay. it is a dry one for you. areas like san jose, though, on the other hand, down into the specially santa cruz mountains, really looking at some heavy rainfall in the santa cruz mountains spots like felton, big basin redwoods really going to be seeing some solid shower activity today, morgan hill and go right much the same san jose seeing some decent showers north of there. and it really fizzles out pretty quickly, actually. and you can see in future cast. that's kind of the way we stay for most of the spots. you will see some as sherry of showers on the peninsula as well as the east bay. not a lot going on in the north bay and tell the evening tonight when we see just a couple of spotty pop-up showers here and there, that's about all we've got at least for this week across the region. some unsettled conditions into tomorrow morning, too. this corresponds with the huge disparity in rainfall. santa rosa may just see a single drop while san jose over half an inch of rain. you get to monterey and you've got over and inch of it. so it'

close to an inch of total rainfall for san jose and fremont and 1 inch for san francisco, higher amounts for the northose to 1 1/2 inches for san rafael and santa rosa. almost all of this will be falling in the sunday night and monday time frame. still on the fence whether this will rank a■ an atmospheric river. we'll continue to evaluate and reevaluate that the next several days. this first system is enough to send a winter weather advisory into effect for the sierra. it's a winter storm warning farther south. they're expecting several inches of snow with possibly a foot of snow above 6,000 or 7,000 feet. travel will be tricky. this goes from 4:00 wednesday morning through thursday. this looks like it's going to be the time frame that will be trickiest for travel into the sierra. something to keep in mind if you want to do some march skiing the second weekend in march. we'll look at the seven-day forecast and round things off for the entire bay area. there's not a lot of variation in temperatures, 50s tomorrow, wednesday, thursday. we warm up and see a bit more contrast in temperatures friday and sat

san jose, but starting off mostly dry. we take it in with storm ranger, our mobile doppler radar. just some light rain right now through the north bay, parts of the coastline there, san mateo coast and over the summit. now here's where i was talking about it being a slow start into the morning hours. some spotty sprinkles. but then here we go. those heavier rain bands with some thunderstorm activity possible in there, start to show up into the middle of the day. north bay first, then carrying on to through the east bay, the peninsula three 4:00 hour. and really, it's lingering around until dinnertime, so expect to expect it to be a soggy day overall with those wind speeds. of course. also into the picture, we're looking at this dark mad purple on your screen 30, even 40, 50 mile an hour gusts there coming up from the south. so with the rain that's coming in in a short amount of time, we could be looking at some downed tree limbs. also some power issues as we track maybe an inch to two inches along the coastal ranges. taking it now into tomorrow. there is some more rain coming in tomorrow and a lot of it will start to push on eas

san jose. now we are expecting for this system making its impact into wednesday and thursday to really bring some rain not only to parts of the north or in san francisco, but also in san jose. so let's get a look right now at san francisco, because the winds are also expected to pick up heading into the middle of the week. and as we transition into an active weather pattern, we will be seeing our skies change and the wind will be of concern for the coastal areas, but also for some of those higher mountain peaks. and we are expecting to see also a drop in temperatures as a cold front associated with it could bring a nice boost for, as i mentioned, the sierra. so we'll go into more detail on what we can expect for the long range outlook. but for today, folks, it's monday. i know we lost an hour of sleep this weekend. you don't have to worry about any wet pavement, at least not for now. let's get a check off how those gas prices are doing with mike. maybe some good news. i saw some price points easing over the weekend. vianey let's brighten the monday for some alameda county residents. 3.89 is the best price in that county. in pleasan

upper 50s around san jose and just mid 50s and some lower 50s around the north bay for tomorrow afternoon. first chance of rain comes back on tsday, but right now looks to be mainly light rain totals coming in mid-morning to late morning there on tuesday with mostly cloudy skies and you can see tuesday's rain totals. there's not much there, but watch what happens as we fast forward wednesday into thursday. you're beginning to see, interestingly enough, higher rain totals south of san francisco, which tells you where the weather pattern will go wednesday into thursday. a lot of that moisture directed into central and southern california. then by friday and saturday we catch a break. it looks like saturday could be the warmest day of the week ahead. mid to upper 60. saturday. sunday right now hanging on for dry weather all the way up, maybe to o abou7 or 8:00. and then a bigger storm could be rolling in sunday night to next monday. all of this means that we'll slowly add to those rain totals around the bay area, and keep that snow going for the sierra. so for tomorrow, we have a chilly star

san francisco and the north bay.. dayme highs below average by about 5 to 7 degrees. so this is it 57. in san jose last week we had morning temperatures that were this cold. so we're just not really seeing it rise a whole lot with that chilly system. 58 here in vallejo, 59 for hayward. over to the peninsula 55 daly city, down towards redwood city, 58 up toward san francisco, 54 in the marina and the north bay. 60 here in santa rosa, 58 for mill valley. so eventually we get into some dry weather friday, saturday and sunday. then by next week we've been talking about this chance of rainfall. we're still looking at some rain, but we do have some new updates for you. the way this is developing now, we could actually see it kind of swing in from the south. that's not usually best for us in terms of getting major totals, but we're still on the board here with what looks to be a third to maybe an inch of rain. however, if it keeps developing more off to the south, we may see these totals go down even more for next monday, so we're keeping an eye on that. i think. all in all, next seven days. a better bet
