amelia earhart is tracking progress in getting it back open. we start with 9news reporter noel brennan who is live at the scene. the officer was on the way to an emergency. the officer's car is now up in the bed of a tow truck now. they are about to move the other car that was involved in this accident. they've got northbound lanes of federal boulevard at 88th open now in the past 15 minutes or so. i want to show what you this intersection looked like as emergency crews were on the scene earlier this morning. i know from police that the accident happened about 1:15 in the morning. a westminister police officer had just gotten a call about the disturbance involving the gun. he was headed southbound on federal boulevard when another car traveling southbound on federal turned on to west 88th, right in front of the officer's car. the officer ended up plowing right into that car. sadly, the man driving the other car was killed in the accident. the officer was also sent to the hospital, and has minor injuries. westminister police say he is going to b

amelia earhart will have your drive. we'll start with marty coniglio in the backyard. marty, have we seen the end of this snow for at least a little while? >> kind of. i think we'll see a few flurries later in the day. this is some of the images we've been getting. there's a person in there. that's what ski and 31 inches of new snow is like. in colorado snow back right now, 116% of average, another way to put that is 15% above average. we're seeing really impressive amounts. partly cloudy conditions over here right now. that's going to be the case no wood burning restrictions in effect as temperatures barely make it into the 30s in a few areas here. late in the day, most of us totally dry. in the foothills, down south we'll see a couple of flurries here and there. looking across the state. for the eastern plains, in the mountain valleys, we'll get a lot of west and northwest facing slopes, we'll be seeing this during the day. temperatures will drop off quickly as skies clear. over the plains, most highways are open. we sill have a couple of trouble spots there. we'll h

amelia earhart is in the traffic center and we start with marty. what time will the brunt of the storm be in? >> to be safe, 3:00. might be a little before that but in my mind i think 3:00 to 4:00 tomorrow morning. -- 3:00 this afternoon to 4:00 tomorrow morning is when you will get 90 person of this. the afternoon and evening is when it gets going and it will be accompanied by 15 to 25 mile- a couple breaks and the forecast this morning, light shifting snow this morning, no big deal. a really picks up this afternoon and starts driving down. this storm system in central arizona has been pushing of these little bands of snow out of the south. it's part of really a system that traverses all the way from southern california to the great lakes. we have blizzard warnings now for eastern nebraska and parts of iowa from the storm. for us, again a couple flakes early on, a few light showers this morning really intensifying during the afternoon and evening. here we see those snow showers early and then this afternoon, boy it will just pick up and we get thi

you'll hear from amelia earhart in a moment but, now we go to noel bragg at the scene. this man has hots at deputies >> reporter: that's what we heard. in the past 30 minutes or so, we have heard a lot of activity here in the hampden and himalaya. more than a dozen dozen bangs were heard. can't tell you what they were. they were not gunshots but could be flash bangs. we heard a few of those, the last few in successions. hampden and himalaya closed and liverpool where we are. we just heard another loud bang here. emergency vehicles are lined up himalaya street as they tried to negotiate with this man. started at a welfare check here at 9:00. deputies went to check on that man. when they did, they fired one single shot toward the residents towards them. no one was injured but, obviously, they are trying to get this man out of here. there is another bang, just heard it. not sure if my microphone picked that up but, again, well over a dozen of these loud bangs outs here. nearby residences were evacuated. the one immediately by where this one here. others were told to shelte

marty coniglio and traffic reporter amelia earhart join us. marty- a tiny bit warmer today but that comes with the wind... at swedish hospital nearly three thousand patients to h-i-v, hepatistic b and hepatitis c. had surgery there in the past five months is told to get tested. the colorado department of public health and environment is investigating a former surgical tech... for stealing narcotic pain medication. swedish isn't saying how that drug theft might've put the patients at risk. a criminal investigation is happening. for one of the scott patzer had to be tested in 2008 after an o-r tech with hepatitis c at center and a surgical center in colorado springs. used dirty needles when stealing fentanyl and then refilling syringes with saline. now... patzer has to get three more tests done... as part of this new investigation. the hospital is offering free testing to all patients who had surgery between august 17th 2015 and january 22 of this year. donald trump is demanding a do- over for the iowa caucuses... saying ted cruz stole the caucu
