claudine wong is here top talk about the household appliance that started the fire. >> reporter: that woman is expected to be okay. the fire happened in the apartment behind me. scary moments. firefighters have cleared the scene. one resident may be having trouble getting back to sleep. it was just after 1:30 this morning. anne said she was drying clothes just before 1:30 when she smelled something funny. she went to check it out that's when she smelled fire. >> i had been drying clothes and i smelled something. i got up and started looking around. while i was looking around the alarm went off. and then i really looked then by went into the washroom when i went into the washroom i could see the smoke in the drier. >> reporter: anne said she called 911 when she opened the drier and found flames. two of her neighbors came to help billion fire extinguishers. the smoke was enough to take her to the hospital to be checked out. payne was more concerned at this point calming herself down when our crew talked to her. certainly grateful this morning it wasn't worse. >>> we have now learned eas

i am mike mibach. >> i am claudine wong. >> of. >>> they were racing.and 4 miles off the coast of san francisco. right now, the coast guard is getting ready to try to rescue the sailors on board. allie rasmus is live with what is happening right now. >> reporter: the cutter that is based in alameda is on the way to the yacht to give them medical care. the type of yacht they are going to is much like the ones you see here docked here. these boats and the one that got into trouble this weekend, they are taking part in the clipper around the world yacht race. we will show you the yacht and crew. this is you tube video of the geraldton clipper. they left china to sail forever oakland. they were 4 miles off the coast of oakland. and they injured some of the crew members. one female and two male crew members were injured. they were told to have pelvic injuries and the female member has cracked ribs. yesterday, a coast guard cargo plane flew over the yacht. that is part of the mission. they were able to drop off medical supplies and it was too stormy for them

if you still knee to get in and out of the city and do that through the golden gate bridge claudine wong is here to give you a better idea of what to expect. >> as you said try to avoid that area that is the best way. if you still need to get there you can still take the golden gate bridge but it will change. moving traffic on to the seismicically safe bridge means it won't be what you are used to. closed at marina and lam bart street. what you can do is still use highway 101. you can see it's open going to and from the golden gate bridge. you have to expect delays get through there. so again encouraged to use buses and ferries if headed into the city. pam. >> people are being urged to take the ferry over the weekend. they are doubling the service from sausalito enlocks burg. but reservations for friday, saturday, and sunday games already sold out. baseball fans you can still use ferry service to the ferry building and then walk or take muni over to at & t park. stay with us throughout the morning for more on the doyle drive closure. we have more information and detours posted on the doy
