ktvu's cristina rendon is live where the road to contract approval appears to be in sight. >> reporter: that's right. so far we are hearing a positive response from the members about the probability this contract will pass and keep them from striking for at least the next four years. we have seen people coming into vote here. across the street from the b.a.r.t. station and they are voting on a contract that took 8 months to negotiate. earlier we reported that this new version would leave out a family leave provision after b.a.r.t. said it was mistakenly included and it will bring changes to safety for riders and workers, it has been approved by the board of directors and the union, so now it is up to union members to make that vote official. they are confident it will pass tonight. >> it will bring the stabilities for the workers that we will have a contract and both parties will honor and live up to the letter of the contract. >> reporter: voting continues through 7:30 p.m. tonight and results could be known as early as 8:30 p.m. if it gets approved it will automatically go into effec

ktvu's cristina rendon is live where david douglas is being held tonight. >> reporter: i got my hands on the documents earlier today. started going through it paper work. david douglas attempted to kidnap the 7-year-old and other other girls the day before but was unsuccessful. >> reporter: david douglas is accused of targeting innocent children with their parents in the parking lot of the walmart. he is facing six felony counts for kidnapping a 7-year-old outside her home. he talks about the incident in a interview on tuesday. >> she looked at me and said i am scared. and i said i am scared and we laugh cried. >> david douglas instilled fear with the intent to commit lewd act dissteal, take, hold, arrest and carry away jane doe 1 by use of force, violence and threat of great bodily harm. he did commit a lewd and lascivious act upon the girl. david douglas tried to steal three other girls from their parents for sexual purposes. the girls are only listed as jane doe 2, 3 and 4 and he had child pornography with him. he is calling it a cry for help as he sits in jail. >> you have to appr

ktvu's cristina rendon looks at whether enough is done to keep children safe. she is live at the jail. >> reporter: well, this man spent time in prison in the '80s and '90s for sexually assaulting multiple victims and now he is accused of reoffending and it is raising questions about the justice system. >> reporter: he is 71-year-old. he knew the girl's parents and spent months abusing the child at her home. he is on the megan's law website as a sex offender. he was convicted in 1989 in san jose and spent 8 years in prison. after serving his time he moved to sunnyvale. >> makes me sad. >> reporter: she says the case is disturbing. it sleds light on how -- shreds light on how the prison system is run. >> there is no proven he is never going to do it again. there is no cure for it. >> reporter: even registered as a sex offender he says the girl's family never suspected abuse till she spoke up. >> just sad to know these people go to prison and come back out and begin their process and victimizing children. >> reporter: he says sexual assaults on children and adult
