this is where darcy spencer is live on capitol hill on more of who police are looking for. darcy? >> reporter: erica, this is definitely a scary situation. we just spoke to an a & c who represents this area. she says d.c. police should make this case a top priority. one of the cases happened right where i'm standing, the 200 block of eighth street and southeast here on capitol hill. not only involved a robbery but also an attempted sexual assault. let's show you a map of the locations of these violent incidents. robberies and attempted sexual assault. one of them again here in the 200 block of 8th street in southeast. another location just a short distance from her in the 900 block of east capitol street in northeast washington. now the third location is less than one mile from here, in the 1300 block of ives place. again, that's in southeast. d.c. police put out three surveillance videos in connection with these cases. they are trying to identify a person of interest shown in these. the first shows an unidentified metro station. that's where the man was walking in, using the esca

news 4's darcy spencer spoke to the victim's widow and joins us from the newsroom with our top story. >> reporter: erika, moreno dunn was married and had plans to start a family when his life was cut short. new tonight, i talked to his wife, who said she doesn't know how she's going to go on without him. she's now raising money to send his body back to his native country. >> i was always with him. he was always with me. he's my whole life. >> reporter: alana moreno dunn became a widow on christmas morning. her husband, franklin moreno dunn shown smiling on their wedding day less than a year and a half ago. he was killed in a crash on the beltway in prince george's county. >> i was looking forward to spending our life together. i don't know what i'm going to do now. we were going to try to have kids next year, and then in five years i wanted to try to move to a different country. we had plans. >> reporter: instead of planning for their future, she's planning for his funeral and trying to raise money to fulfill his last wishes, to be buried in his native country, el salvador. >> that's

darcy spencer is live with more. >> reporter: this was a very close call. i'm told there were dangerously high levels of carbon monoxide in that home. i'm going to show you what saved their lives. take a look here, this is a small carbon monoxide detector. one of these went off yesterday when the crew went inside that house and these are affixed to every first aid bag carried by ems crews here in montgomery county. there were nine kids and their two parents in that home on popping drive in rockville yesterday afternoon. that includes a 6-year-old girl who had fallen unconscious. they called 911 and the c.o. detector affixed to the medic's bag immediately went off as soon as they walked in the door letting them know exactly what went wrong and what to do. the dad and his two daughters were taken to the hospital and fortunately today they were released and doing okay. >> now i explained to doctor and it comes to what happened? she no wake up. i suggest now that all the house has to have one because as soon as they go in it was beeping. >> this occurred in the

in a playground in lanham, chopper 4 over the scene on 97th avenue near gaywood elementary and darcy spencer joins us now with an update from the police. darcy? >> wendy, prince george's county police updating that this is, in fact, a homicide and that the victim was stabbed to death and the scene is unfortunately, the grounds of a prince george's county elementary school, gaywood elementary and you can see it behind me. from what i understand the body was found in the basketball court area behind the school. at this point police are only saying that the victim is an adult male. we don't have an age yet. we're really not sure what this was about. they got the call around 4:00 this afternoon. apparently the victim was here in this area with some other people so there were, in fact, witnesses. let's hear a little bit now from that press conference. >> we have strong suspect leads and we're looking into some stuff. we're also talking to witnesses also. >>> so that's a good thing and there were, in fact, witnesses and police say they have strong leads that they are pursuing in this case, but aga

this was in route 2024 not far from old largo road and that's where we find darcy spencer this eveninger: wendy, this family was too distraught to speak to us on camera and they are grieving and in a state of shock over the loss of their son, but a family friend does confirm that this young man was a student at morgan state university and he was here for driving on route 202 last night when he was killed. that victim is abedire ososanya. he was a junior at morgan state. he was driving around 10:30 last night when the driver of a cadillac lost control of his car and struck him head-on. he died at the scene. he was a short distance away from his parent's house. again, they are grieving today. melissa green knew this young man through her daughter. they both attended largo high school and she said he was like a son to her. >> i don't have a son and it feels like my son has passed. he has touched so many lives and i'm just hurting. we're just shocked. he was just a sweet, awesome child just doing wonderful things. >> morgan state did issue a statement that says in part on a day when so man

darcy spencer spoke to residents today about how they came together to overcome all of the challengesorter: for the last six months, this section of piscataway drive in fort washington was closed while it was being rebuilt and that meant no rail trucks and no delivery and that meant they couldn't pull into their own driveway. >> we had to walk from up the street down through here and through the woods to our respective houses. scombr >> reporter: the road was destroyed that affected 28 families. while it was being rebuilt, they aloud packages to be delivered to their homes and mailboxes could be moved where they could be accessed by postal workers. this being -- being looking like the natural disaster that it was with this day today. it's been great. everybody helped everybody and we all worked together. >> while they still had to hand carry groceries into the neighborhood and trash out of the neighborhood they used some creativity to make that a little easier. >> resident his to get creative to try to figure out how to walk in and out of their neighborhood and they built these steps

news 4's darcy spencer is live in northwest with tonight's vigil. darcy? >> reporter: erika, that vigil taking place at public charter school. if you take a look behind me, you can see there are still a few people from the vigil, but he was remembered as a good friend, a good student and someone who believes in justice and in peace. dozens of friends and family members walked in a procession from jose ochoa's home to the school where he attended in the last four years. he also went by the name alex. we are told education was the 17-year-old's priority and he had an accepted into a couple of colleges. hinns principal and teachers spoke highly of him and he did volunteer work, he played football and was very peaceful. he was stabbed to death after making plans to meet a girl at a park one week ago. >> you can tell this was one of the students who felt this was his home. he was one of the good ones and he was the student of all things you would never think that he would lap to one of those types, reserved, but very humble and mature. >> very sad. jose was a g

news 4's darcy spencer is live with the story you will see only on news 4. >> jim, one of the woman said she was standing right here in this area on the front porch when she was literally thrown off. all of these allegations remain under investigation. at this point no charges have been filed, but what sources are telling me, this may have been about a turf battle. >> a prince george's county fire lieutenant said she was thrown off the porch of this home after responding here for a fire tuesday night. another firefighter says she was shoved. the man they're accusing, volunteer firefighters from a separate station. all four were placed on duty while they investigate. >> all four members were removed from emergency operations and placed on limited public contact. >> reporter: the altercation happened at this house in atlanta. i am told they were running hoses into the home. that's when they were allegedly confronted by the two volunteers from the west lanham hills fire station. >> the police department was called to the scene and they took a report however no charges were placed for anybod

news 4's darcy spencer is there. darcy?> reporter: wendy, as people were getting ready for their new year's eve celebrations folks here want to make sure that those young lives are not forgotten. in particular they want to remember the victims from newborn up to age 25 who died here in the district in 2015. they say 65 people are on that list and they will be reading those names. i'm going to step out of the way and show you they're now getting ready to hold the vigil here and the northeast performing arts group on benning road. they offer programs here for young people to give them something to do. in previous years we've had five or six of our youth killed through homicide and this is very important to us and we want to keep stressing the community and let them know that there are programs out here to keep you active. >> reporter: you can see that the vigil is really just getting under way. it's going to be happening generally from 5:00 until 7:00 this evening. they plan to light candles and the names and all of those 65

news 4's darcy spencer joins live with what police think about this case tonight. darcy? >> reporter: jim, detectives have been trying to figure out since last night where exactly did the shooter fire from. take a look here. you can see rockville police are back out here on the scene. this is a field behind a school, and they are still searching for shell casings. this is where the bullet went into the door of the suv striking a woman in both legs. she was driving here on martins lane in rockville monday night when she was hit by the random gunfire. >> scary. everybody's scared. because to happen in the road. i don't know why. >> reporter: the victim didn't realize at first that she'd been hit. she drove to the rockville metro and picked up her adult son. when she saw the bullet wound, her son drove her to the rockville volunteer fire station. there she was taken to the hospital. >> we think this is totally random. that the victim was not targeted. that it possibly could have been an accidental shooting in whici the weapon for other purposes. >> reporter: police searched

news4's darcy spencer was there tonight with the details. darcy, what are you hearing? >> reporter: so far prince george's county police have cleared the scene. the body was found here in the playground area behind that elementary school. earlier this evening, a man who lives in the neighborhood came to the scene seeking answers. he says his disabled son is missing, and he is very concerned he could be the victim of this violent crime. the man was stabbed to death in the basketball court area behind gaywood elementary school in the lanham section of prince george's county. douglas reyes came to the scene concerned because he had not heard from his disabled son. concerned that he could have been hurt. >> some people might want to steal something, think that he has money or cell phone or something. he has a cell phone. he is not answering. >> reporter: police say there were witnesses to the stabbing, and they had strong leads in the investigation. they got the call around 4:00 in the afternoon and got here quickly. >> we have strong suspect lead however, we don't have any

news4's darcy spencer live outside suburban hospital with what we learn about the officer who was trying to keep drunk drivers off the streets. >> reporter: the officer i interviewed tonight is known here in montgomery county as the dui king. he has taken numerous drunken drivers off the roadways. and this young officer was following in his footsteps. officer john romak took liotta under his wing. >> he wanted to go out and make a difference. and he also had a deep compassion to treat people with compassion and respect as he did his job. >> reporter: liotta became a full-fledged officer in the department, sharing romack's passion for going after drunk drivers, even volunteering for the dui task force. >> he was excited to do it not in a mean way but to keep everybody safe. >> reporter: he was working on the task force thursday night on rockville pike when he was hit and critically injured by a driver suspected of being under the influence of alcohol and drugs. romack has visited him in the hospital after he fights for his life after suffering a traumatic head injury. >> you don't want it

news 4's darcy spencer is live with the update she broke on twitter. >> reporter: that fire broke out about one week ago right here at this house in lanam. according to documents obtained by news 4, one of the volunteer firefighters allegedly held his arms out like this trying to block the women from going inside. now, i'm told that christopher kelly, one of the volunteers, is a d.c. police officer. two volunteer firefighters charged with assault and obstruction in connection with the fight over who was in charge at a house fire in lanham. christopher kelly and jell miller both volunteers with the west lanham hills fire department. two female career firefighters from the landover hill station were first on the scene at the fire. they were running a hose when they arrived. the accuser says kelly spread his arms to block them from going in and shoved them off the porch. one of the women says miller tried to physically force her out of the house. the fire chief has condemned their actions. >> have a situation where firefighters are arguing or fighting or tussling over a fire scene is una

news 4's darcy spencer is live outside suburban hospital right now in bethesda. darcy? >> reporter: good afternoon. this is where the officer was taken and he continues to cling to life on these critical injuries. if you take a look behind me you can see montgomery county police cruisers line up along georgetown road and there are officers in support of their fellow officer. i am told the chief is here and obviously close family and friends all hoping and praying that he will pull through from these life-threatening injuries. this officer is only 24 years old, and i'm told that he was doing what he is passionate about. he was out there trying to get impaired drivers off the road. that officer, as you said, identified as noah leotta. he was on the force since january 2013. he pulled over a driver on rockville pike last night and that's when he was struck and critically injured. the driver identified just this afternoon if 47-year-old luis reluzco was taken into custody on suspicion of driving under the influence. he was required to submit a blood test to check for any dr
