what we found in the eagle ford is the eagle ford is a huge 20,000 square mile area in south texas. now there is one of the biggest oil and gas booms in the nation. but it hasn't gotten the national attention that places like the marsalis shale in pennsylvania have. what you have there is south .exas has this boom looking through air permits and looking at the regulatory regime for we found there all of these facilities that the wells and compressor stations and all the infrastructure that comes with the boom that are emitting industrial sized air pollutants into the air. you're talking about things like hydrogen sulfide, which can be deadly, volatile organic compounds like benzene that can cause cancer in the long-term. and you have that alongside many, many hundreds of residential complaints about things that are related to the industry. you have residents complaining to regulators about headaches and foul odors and trouble breathing and all kinds of respiratory problems. at the same time, you have a regulatory system that knows very little about the air quality in the area, becau

last week he was named eagle scout after a decade of service to the boy scouts of america.first gay scout to receive the highest honor. but when he turns 18 in august, his time will be up. the organization only allows gay scouts up to age 18. joining me now is pascal. thank you for joining us. >> thank you for having me. >> first of all, that's a huge accomplishment. have you heard from anyone since being named eagle scout? if so, what have they said to you? >> i haven't really heard directly from anyone from the boy scouts headquarters. in general, just the general feel that i've gotten from my local troop and people who have e-mailed me and sent me letters is that everyone is overwhelmingly supportive. i've gotten so much congratulations and it's been great. this whole experience has just been so wonderful. i have gotten so much positive feedback that it just totally outweighs the negative that i've experienced and it's so wonderful. >> before the change in policy earlier this year, were you already out to your fellow scouts and/or leaders? if that is the case, how were y
