kari -- ==kari//wx chroma== =wx toss anchors= >> good morning, and we are feeling some cooler temperatures in san francisco. and that is the only place where we will have some relief, there and along the coast. we take a live look out there late this morning. we're looking good and we're already starting to feel it warming up in san jose with that bright sunshine right now. even looking at woodside, you can see those low clouds on the coast and the marine layer pushed down about 1,000 feet. that will remain as we go through today and keeping those temperatures in the 60s there. half moon bay, right now 64 degrees and inland areas. in livermore we're up to 82 degrees. it's 77 in san jose and 80 now in fairfield with high temperatures continuing to rise into the mid to upper 80s and then some low 90s as well. we'll be up to 86 degrees in san jose while livermore and in morgan hill, 92 degrees. san francisco will see a high of 67. so we'll talk more about this, what's ahead as we go through the week as temperatures go down a few degrees and then back up. shootio come in just a few minutes. >>

about that and when it cools down and where that's coming up in just a few minutes. >> thank you, kari. >>> today jeff coppola is in sants santa cruz where a popular beach is once again open. >> it was closed earlier this week because of a shark attack. beachgoers feel safe going back into the water? >> reporter: well, take a look behind me. you can see steamer lane. there are a number of surfers already back in the water, one of them about to catch a wave as we speak. water patrols conducted as early as this morning saw no sightings of shark activity and convinced marine safety inspectors that it was safe to go back in the water. in santa cruz more than a dozen surfers picked up where they left off tuesday, in the waifve of steamer lane. they conducted numerous controls and found no shark activity in the area in the last few days. surfers thought a quick jump in the water seemed reasonable. >> sharks are there whether you see them or not. i think everybody has the right to surf if they want to surf. whether there are sharks or not, they're always going to be there. >> reporter: steve

let's go to meteorologist kari hall for a look at your first forecast. cloudy in some parts, though, kari. >> yeah, we're still seeing some clouds in the coastal areas and in san francisco. we're getting some clearing but you can see the fog rolling across twin peaks right now and across the golden gate bridge. while we are getting some clearing elsewhere in the city and looking live in san jose right now, nothing but bright  sunshine as we head into this morning and temperatures are warming up quite a bit inland. we are in the mid-70s in san jose, while oakland is at 66 degrees. 67 in napa and san francisco at 64 degrees. today's high temperatures will reach into the mid-80s for the south bay, the tri-valley up toward concord, as well as the north bay. while we will keep those low 60s in san francisco and along the coast, we'll continue to see those clouds rolling by. unfortunately, in time for the fireworks. i'll talk more about that, what's ahead and where you can see some fireworks today. that's coming up a little bit later. >>> a reckless move on

let's talk to kari hall. cooler temperatures today as we look at downtown san jose. kari? >> we will be looking out for the nice, low temperatures, but it will be heating up as we head to the weekend. i want to show you also the smoke drifting over lake tahoe right now. that smoke carrying very far off to the north and east away from that fire, and that's something you'll want to watch for if you're heading over to the sierra. as we take a live look outside at the golden gate bridge, the skies are clearing and we're getting some sunshine. nice, cool temperatures right now. we are feeling some mid-60s in oakland and san francisco and fairfield. it is 71 degrees and 73 degrees in san jose and some spots we are a few degrees warmer than we were yesterday at this time, and those temperatures will continue to go up. looking at high temperatures today that will be reaching the low 80s for palo alto and san jose, upper 80s for the inland valleys and mid-80s for the north bay. we'll talk about what's ahead as our temperatures go right back up in time for the weekend. that's coming

that's what i've post oed on my facebook page, meteorologist kari hall. this is where we're keeping the cooler temperatures while it is all dry. it was our view from mt. hamilton and the hills that have really been parched and we've seen quite a few wildfires there, way too much for the south bay. now as we get a look at our temperatures, it still feels nice and comfortable. we're in the upper 70s for many of the inland areas and some upper 60s for the inner bay and the coast. as we go through the day, our temperatures staying a little bit on the milder side, but we're still above average and some very dry conditions adding in with the breezy wind will give us some more very dry conditions over the next several days. but our high temperatures in the upper 80s and lower 90s, much lower than what's ahead, so we'll talk about that. this weekend's forecast coming up in a few minutes. >> kari, thank you very much. >>> all new at 11:00 right now, there is now a $100,000 reward that is being offered to help catch the killer of a prominent bay area attorney, jame
