keith jones is live at philadelphia international airport. do we know what the emergency was? >> reporter: witnesses called 911 reporting a plane on fireflyifirefly i flying overhead. a video from the passenger. look at this. a plane, of the wing, the sparks that you can clearly see about 145 passengers on board this plane. imagine, you are sitting there, you take off and then that's what you see out your window. look at your screen here. emergency crews quickly surrounded the plane. it pulled to the gate without incident. that's an airbus 320 on its way to seattle. took off around 8:30. a flight that's usually three hours turned to 40 minutes. the emergency forced them to turn around. they landed safely. here is a live look at runway. the airport is back to normal operations. we understand the passengers were placed on board another flight. we're gathering details about this emergency. we can report that the plane landed safely. there doesn't appear to be any injuries to the pilot, to the passengers on board that plane. it doesn't appear there was any incident once it landed.

i'm keith jones. >>> rosemary connors is live at temple university hospital where victims were taken. rosemary, any word on the condition? >> reporter: all three are stable and expected to survive. even the woman shot a few times in the stomach. police don't know if the victims were the intended targets or not. investigators say that the way the gunman carried out this triple shooting made clear that he had no problem terrorizing the entire neighborhood. >> all i was hearing like was -- like gunfire back-to-back. >> reporter: with two men and one woman wounded, investigators wasted no time to track down the gunman who sprayed bullets. witnesses say he was in a gold minivan. >> the shooter was standing up and his upper body was coming out of a sunroof. and he was firing an assault rifle in the direction of all three victims. >> reporter: from their doorways, neighbors watched as detectives mark the nine spent shell casings on the street. >> we found two separate caliber spent shell casings. we don't know if that one shooter used a separate weapon or there was a second shooter involved.

keith jones live tonight in strawberry mansion. the clerk walked you right through this crime? >> reporter: that's right. the victim told me the guy walked through the front doors, went to the back of the store, then sprinted up toward the register, kicked down the door. the owner told me that he had very little time to act. >> my back this place. punch him. >> reporter: this man said it took three seconds, one to jump kick the door and two around the corner and three to tackle him. >> i try to defend myself. >> reporter: beaten and alone in the store. >> my eye put in the fingers and then just hit me on the back. >> reporter: he reached for the phone to call 911 and the suspect ran out without taking anything. that doesn't mean he will get away. an hour and a half earlier, police say this is the suspect, six feet tall, ordering cigarettes, perhaps casing the place. they point to the same gray shoes, used to sprint and jump and kick in a locked door, leaving this damage behind and sending this man home for five days tending to his wounds. >> i didn't know anybody can break the

as nbc 10's keith jones reports, his murder is a mystery. >> reporter: detectives focus on the crime scene behind me. it's a parking lot right there. it's where the body was found. it's closed a home too by the way which is right over there. detective searches the grass and weeds for evidence within eyesight of mourning family, friends, and loved ones. support came from sinclair avenue, cars streamed down the street, skirting the scene of the murder. sky force 10 watch police swarm the area after the body was discovered last night, inside a black audi by an alert employee. tonight police confirmed the 27-year-old was found shot to death inside. we spoke with family, friends, and paid a visit to the mosque he intends. a facebook page, outpouring of support, comment after comment, praying for the muslim family, which they say is one of the biggest in delaware. spiritual leaders say the 27-year-old was a recent temple law graduate, but looking out at the scene, he's a victim of murder. police wouldn't tell us what they were looking for in the grass. i want you to take another good look

good evening, i'm keith jones. police say stephanie did he say could you ski was targeted but they don't know who did it. here's one of the clues. the surveillance video shows someone running away from the scene. randy gyllenhaal is live at headquarters. neighbors know a killer is on the loose. >> reporter: keith, some saw the suspect running from the scene. he remains at large tonight. some of the victim's friends and family might be afraid that did not stop them from gathering at a very large vigil. it's difficult to explain the sense of loss in this port richmond neighborhood after a young mother was murdered last night, shattering any sense of peace on this block. >> hail mary. >> reporter: so they gathered at the scene of the crime to pray and hold hands. 100 strangers and friends remembering stephanie. her family says she just started a new job at a dental practice and had a 2-year-old daughter. last night someone walked into her apartment and shot her, execution-style. her daughter was in the same room. and

nbc 10's keith jones has the new developments from our digital operations center. keith? >> reporter: we just learned police believe they found the bus that hit the man as well as the driver. police released this still image of the bus moments ago. take a look at it right there. the tour bus was on its way to washington, d.c. from philadelphia's chinatown this morning when the accident happened. the bus has since returned and is now in a lot in south philadelphia. investigators are inspecting it and talking with that driver. take a look at this now. sky force 10 over franklin and race streets after the crash happened around 9:45 this morning. it's just steps from police headquarters near franklin square. the bus hit the man as he was walking across that crosswalk. he was in it, as a matter of fact. the bus then dragged him about 50 feet. police aren't even sure if the bus driver was aware it happened. >> there are some witnesses, pedestrians driving by, if they could call our headquarters and give us information because there was no one that stayed at the scene afterward

keith jones is following developments from our digital operations center. >>> the season starts next month, the league and the patriots quarterback are eager to resolve the matter before the first snap. cameras were there as brady arrived at a manhattan courthouse this morning. at issue, whether nfl commissioner roger goodell was justified in you is spending brady four games for using under inflated footballs in january's afc championship game. brady did nothing wrong. commissioner goodell arrived a few minutes after brady to a smattering of boos. the nfl is asking the federal judge to declare goodell followed the contract properly. today is a kickoff to what's expected to be a series of court proceedings. this is all over under inflated footballs. an investigator hired by the nfl determined tom brady used them in the championship game. a softer football makes it easier to throw and catch. the judge told both sides, there are strengths to both of their arguments and he hasn't determined yet who will prevail. we'll just have to wait. reporting live at the digital operations center, ke

a lot of the people named here, starting with ed lee zule jones, and murray conroy, amos brown, keithackson who was indicted earlier, and others, they do have ties to willie brown. and i'm wondering what does that tell you? is this just what we expected? that willie's a very influential guy, even though he hasn't been in office for a long time? or is there a way of doing business around him and the people that he's worked with and mentored maybe that suggests something else? >> i mean, i think there's suspicions of that. they've never been proven. willie brown was the target of fbi investigations in the past. it is interesting somebody -- an insider this week noted to me there was never this kind of suspicion around mayor gavin newsom, for all his enemies in town and all his faults. but i do think that, you know, there have been questions around ed lee and his association with willie brown and with chinatown powerhouse rose park ever since he was appointed our mayor and decided to run after promising he wouldn't. there were multiple investigations and accusations leveled against the i
