lena howland is live in daly city. lena: hello. a lot has happened in the past 15 minutes since you last checked in with me. right next to me you can see they finally had the suv pulled out of the sinkhole, and they had to use a crane to physically pull it up before they could attach it to the tow truck. this is about 30 minutes before that. this was the suv partially submerged including the hood and top two fires. let us go to some wild video of the moment that the car fell into the sinkhole. this happened an hour after the water main break in the area and public works was on the scene trying to shut off the water main. they shut down roads nearby because of ongoing repairs and road hazards. and daly city please say that no one was in the car and it was parked at the time. they talked to the owner of the car and he is ok, a little bit annoyed that his car was stuckio face some serious repairs because of this. now the water has subsided and the only standing water that we are seeing is what is left in the sinkhole, and it is a litt

lena howland joins us live from the south bay. good morning. what is the officers condition? lena: we have learned the officer, a five year veteran of this department, is expected to be ok after being shot in the lower part of his body. he is receiving treatment for what the department is calling a non-life-threatening injury. this all started as a traffic. -- as a traffic stop last night. the driver of the charger got out of the car and ran away and officers chased him. have officers -- as officers were struggling to get people into custody he fired a gun once. other officers were able to get him into custody in palo alto police say no shots were fired by their officers. they say the suspect was using what they call a ghost gun, converted to be fully automatic with a high-capacity magazine. ghost guns have been a major issue across the bay area over the past few years. to give you some perspective on the issue, according to the state attorney general, california law enforcement agencies seized 26 ghost guns but by 2021 that number had increased to 12,388. this is an ongoing i

kumasi: we have live coverage, starting with lena howland. >> will be making his first appearance in court this afternoon, here at the san mateo hall of justice just two days after a shooting spree at two different farms where he was believed to be targeting his own coworkers. according to court documents, we are learning that the suspect, chunli zhao, made threats another workplace about 10 years ago. he worked with a roommate at age senate as in 2013. the roommate eventually got a temporary restraining order after he tried to suffocate him with a pillow and threatened to use a knife to cut his head off the sheriff's was unable to serve chunli zhao with the court papers. a few months later, the judge allowed the temporary restraining order to expire, but steve white staffed says on the prosecution level, it is a much different story for the half moon bay shooting, which left seven dead. >> this is the largest number of victims we have ever prosecuted in one incident in this county. every one of those family members, they do not need to be concerned about what will happen in court. w

lena howland is live with how those homeowners are dealing with this. e about as close to that neighborhood as we can get. berkeley hills -- we are based at berkeley hills fire department. five homes have been red tagged homeowners were left -- were told to leave over fears of another mudslide slamming into their homes. yesterday when a wall of mud pushed into a living room of a berkeley hills home. the homeowners at their dog were able to get out safely look that slide is putting other homes in this area in danger. paul chang owns a house below where this mudslide happens. he is one of the five who have been red tagged. >> i am right next to their house. if the money keeps sliding, it will hit my house or david's house. i have tenants who live there and they called and told me they have been evacuated. lena: berkeley fire officials say they are making progress after finding a broken water pipe where the mudslide first started. it is unclear when those red tags might be lifted. officials fear the mud could keep moving downhill in this area. fire official

lena howland is at a station. what is happening there? are a bart station in san francisco, where moments ago trains started going into the transbay tube once again behind us here, and that is because of the latest update from officials telling us trains can now go through the tube once again, but they are being forced to turn around and oakland. they can only go as far as oakland, meaning this is causing a major disruption for commuters in the east bay. they are not able to get into the city. i will step out of the shot to show you what we are seeing, which is not a lot of action here at the embarcadero b station. from the san francisco side, trains from the yellow, blue and orange line will get you to various stations in oakland but will then need to turn back from the san francisco side. trains go as far as the west oakland station only. this is a major disruption for the entire bay area happening before peak commute time, as many people depend on the transit service to get into the city for work. more information we have learned from b
