opened fire on security guard leonardo johnson inside the lobby of the group's headquarters in northwest d.c. >>> this morning, we are starting to learn more details about the security guard people around the country are calling a hero. leonardo johnson is 46 years old and has a 4-year-old daughter. the family research council says he was only a part-time security guard and served as the building's operations manager. he was shot in the arm wednesday when a gunman opened fire in the lobby of the family research council's headquarters. johnson is still in the hospital but is expected to make a full recovery. >>> in a fox 5 investigation you will only see here, a 93- year-old woman falls in her home but instead of driving to the home, the ambulance drives to another station. the call was from macarthur boulevard on august 6th. an ambulance from engine company six which was dropping off a patient at sibley hospital a mile away was dispatched to the address. we are told it drove past her house and went to ambulance 29 station and insist they take her instead. >> ambulance six was dispatched and

here in northwest d.c. we're looking to the southwest. a couple of puffy clouds there. mainly sunny and gorgeous. 85. dew points dipping into the 50s so the air is really drying out. humidity now at 37%. light winds. oh, it's almost perfect out there today. here's what's coming for tomorrow. notice the storms that come through chicago. they're tracking over toward detroit. just about to indianapolis and south bend headed toward ohio. they're ahead of a cold front. that cold front is going to get here tomorrow evening, tomorrow night. however, it may have a tough time pushing through us. now, this morning. if you were watching, i was saying yeah, this will get moving a little bit so saturday won't be so bad. i want to show you the futurecast. i'm a little concerned that a wave could form on the front. today no problems. tonight no problems. tomorrow morning got to hit the road early going out of town for the weekend, no problems either. here's the front in the morning. by midday, though, we're going to see some showers and storms from pennsylvania back into western maryl

outside on the michael & son weather camera, that filtered sunshine, mostly cloudy skies here in northwest d.c.. 85 humidity at 46%. so not too humid yet. and a north northeasterly wind at 5 miles an hour. our problem, all this moisture has been sitting off the carolina coast for days there's been a boundary here. florida's finally cleared out and you can sort of see a little twist right there near charleston, south carolina. that's a little area of low pressure and yeah. it may be a little area of low pressure but it's tracking right toward the metro. suffolk, virginia as well going to see the showers developing later tonight into tomorrow morning. see the clouds with this most of the afternoon. could be a few showers down around norfolk especially this afternoon. maybe up toward richmond. overnight though the moisture comes northward. by tomorrow morning 6:00 a.m. richmond seeing the rain, the northern neck. watch what happens during the day as the rain continues to slowly creep up towards us towards lunchtime. northern sections with some luck you have a dry morning. if you have to mow your

. >>> a diplomat's daughter is recovering after being hit by a metro bus in northwest d.c. tonight. it happened about 7:00 near the intersection of wisconsin avenue and jennifer street. the girl was conscious and alert after the accident. relatives showed up at the scene and told us she's the daughter of an argentinean diplomat. they are trying to figure out if she was in a crosswalk. >>> a growing mystery over a fire and death. a woman is found inside an apartment complex but investigators still don't know what killed her. firefighters responded to the scene around 4:00 this afternoon. these pictures from chopper 4. by the time they got inside, a woman was already unconscious. she was later pronounced dead at the hospital. it is not clear yet whether the woman died as a direct result of a fire and it's not clear what caused that blaze. prince george's county homicide detectives have now joined the investigation. dramatic new pictures just in from stafford as an assisted living center goes up in flames. this fire destroyed the group home for special needs adults. chopper 4 was over
