fire crews have stopped forward progression of the wildfire burning close to downtown novato. they are part of this attack on the flames using retardant and water from the reservoir. fire crews say the fire is not threatening any buildings. sky 7 was by petaluma road where it's at 35 acres and 20% contained. in the meantime, firefighters are working their paradise. there is no containment the cal fire reports it is burning north away from populated areas. it has burned 1200 acres in less than one day. the fire started uphill from where the campfire broke out in 2018. that fire killed more than 80 people. and evacuation warning is in effect for the area. he said that fire crews are getting the upper hand on the duckworth fire near the nevada border. that fire is now 71% contained. it has destroyed more than 20 homes in total. the fire is that more than 95,000 acres and 148 square models. crews expect a helpful containment by july 30th. the backward fire is a combination of two while fires and both were started by lightning. it is timely that a napa county today cal fire showed

novato as you're heading out the door we have some cloudy skies, temperatures in the mid 50s.ng to clear up fairly quickly as our temperatures head towards the low 70s at 1:00. eventually reaching into the upper 70s here. we'll get a look at our microclimates and the heat coming up in a few minutes. how is it looking for the commute? >> pretty good for now. at least for now. steal your line. traffic is showing a little slowing starting to build in san jose right on schedule. over here, we've always had all morning that slowdown out of the altamont pass and it's held steady clearing at grant line road, just a tad bit for pleasanton. nothing major. over her valley y and southbound 880 through hayward and union city a lot of volume start to build in that portion of the east bay. travel times building up here as you drive off of highway 4 down to 242 and 680. this drive pittsburgh to walnut creek is starting to see a build up of about 5 to 6 minutes over the last bit of the commute i should say. that has been an issue. the build up at the toll plaza started after 6:00 and started

santa rosa you've been slow to clear and as a result temperatures have been lagging behind. 66 in novato and vacaville through the upper 70s and upper 60s for concorde, but we will see temperatures hold at about 90b0 today. there's a look at the gray sky, the seabreeze up to 30 miles an hour at the coast today. we've had fog and drizzle at the shoreline while it has been clear inland. it will be cooler inland and elsewhere you won't notice much change but as we start august tomorrow the first week looks pretty seasonal. some minor ups and downs but nothing too extreme and that's all because our marine layer will stay pretty close. it clears today from the san mateo coast partially and then moves back and quickly across the bay. then by sunday morning we are cloudy until about 10 pm and sunny again in the afternoon and this is tomorrow afternoon where the moisture is winding down in the mountains. if you're coming into the city for the game today, low 60s and cool, breezy with high clouds out there, 88 and concorde and that feels a little better for you i think. 81 in napa. 73 san mateo a

you get to novato and it is 91. we'll see temperatures hold onto upper 80s through much of sonoma before we see low hundreds again into the valleys of the north bay. current numbers now, mostly in the upper 50s. it is a cool 50 for santa rosa. interesting set up on the clouds. the marine layer is out there. you can see valleys of the immediate bay. we are waking up to the clouds that we are used to but there is a higher deck over head as well which will cloud the issue a little bit. it's all gone by late morning. no matter how cloudy it looks, whether the low stuff or unusual high clouds coming in, it's gone by late morning and we'll get plenty sunshine into the afternoon today. let's get into the numbers. 105 by saturday. that's going to be the peak of the heat wave. this looks more intense than it did even yesterday at this time. 105 in general for inland locations by saturday, will still be in the hundreds for sunday. then it is better. thankfully it doesn't last long. temperatures will come back down to average
