meteorologist cecily tynan is at the big board watching double scan radar. hey, cecily. >> hi, rick and double scan live already firing up. the cold front approaching our northwest suburbs and we are getting kind of a broken line of some showers and thunderstorms to the south. one cell working offer of lbi and there's another line that's moving through delaware right now. it's moving across the delaware bay towards salem county. we've had 77 lightning strikes in the past 15 minutes and it's all moving eastbound at about 20 miles per hour so townsend delaware, peck's corner all in the path of these storms. lightning you definitely want to get inside. also some heavy downpours and gusty winds. this is what to expect until about 10 o'clock. they're not going to be widespread but there will be isolated thunderstorms mainly south of philadelphia with brief heavy downpours, dangerous lightning. could have some wind up to about 40 miles per hour and also the potential that some of them contain some pea sized hail. so that's the moisture but really the bigger impact

meteorologist cecily tynan is live at the big board with the latest from double scan radar. ecily. >> jim, the heat wave is ending tonight with the arrival of a cold front and as expected it is sparking some isolated stormy weather south of philadelphia. this is pretty much what future tracker was showing yesterday. the southern tip of lbi getting hit with a potent little cell, three lightning strikes the past 15 minutes some heavy downpours. this actually is the third cell to hit lbi in the past two hours. they've progressively been working down to the south and there's a line of thunderstorms working into the delaware bay. this is moving southeast at about 20 miles per hour. so, it is heading towards cape may, villas reeds beach north cape may rio grande in the path of this storm. 27 lightning strikes the past 15 minutes. this also has some heavy downpours and the potential for small hail. what this front will do is say goodbye to the heat. three days in a row of temperatures in the 90's. wednesday 91,est and -- yesterday and today 93 degrees. that's officially 15 to 20 deg

with jaime apody, meteorologist, cecily tynan, rick williams and monica malpass. >>> developing now officialstrying to figure out how a helicopter crashed in newcastle county. this morning the medical transport went down in a ditch killing the pilot and leaving a smokey scene behind. officials are making their way there to find out what went on. it happened at 11:15 at the 200 block of quigley boulevard in newcastle. sara bloomquist is live on the scene with the latest tonight. >> reporter: rick and monica, authorities confirm that the pilot. the only person on board of this chopper was a 37-year-old franklinville, new jersey man in gloucester county. he was conducting train exercises approaching the newcastle airport. that is when it went down in this ditch behind this hill. a shed and some cars were damaged. somehow the pilot managed to avoid the adjacent buildinged. cell phone video caught the quick black smyth one mile southeast of the newcastle airport. >> a privately owned helicopter crashed here on quigley boulevard in newcastle. we confirm that one person was on board and one fatality
