grady trimble comes to us from washington with more. grady? reporter: liz, elon musk and vivek ramaswamy wrote an opinion piece for the "wall street journal" and in that piece, they layout what they plan to do with doge, the department of government efficiency and how they plan to do it. so, the plan calls for them to work with the white house office of management and budget, and legal experts who are apart of government agencies to identify examples of what they consider regulatory over reach. then, the two men write, doge will present this list of regulations to president trump who can, by executive action, immediately pause the enforcement of those regulations and initiate the process for review and recision. fewer regulations, they say, would require fewer employees to enforce them, and in addition to cutting red tape and shrinking the workforce of the federal government, they want to end over-spending by taking aim at more than $500 billion they say congress never authorized or is being used in ways congress never intended. so, what that

stuart: grady, thanks so much for being here.u make of this department of government efficiency? can they really cut serious waste? >> i think they can. you have to realize that if they just solve for simplifying tax and deregulated the economy just, say, 30%, the costs that i have to spend each year just to remain comet compliant goes up about 20% a year between all the consultants, the auditors, the lawyers and the changing rules of regulation. and i participate in all 11 sectors of the economy. i have never if seen cost escalation as i have in the last five years on this area. and so i'm just one voice, but if you went and talked to the ceos of the s&p 500, they point to this as one of the most expensive aspects in terms of cost growth on hair income statements. there's -- on their income statements. there's lots of room for efficiency. stuart: all right, kevin, thanks very much. joining us now is jim to bin, the ceo of the national association of home builders. i want to know how trump will revitalize the housing market. >> f

grady trimble in dearborn, michigan.52 republicans are going to be in the senate coming up and that is a clear majority. >> reporter: that's exactly right. in the presidential race come michigan is only relevant in that it could solidify the blue wall as it has been called, now it's looking a little more red. it could run up the score for donald trump against vice president harris. it could help republicans expand their lead in the senate which they have the majority of. i want to dig into that because it's too close to call. mike rogers's campaign is saying they are heating with caution in this race could be the closest senate race ever in michigan history. as of now, 98.5% of the votes are in, alyssa --elissa slotkin is in the lead. there are 6000 outstanding male in military ballots that have to be counted right now. this is going to come down to that 1.5% of votes that is yet to report. i spoke with mike rogers the day before election day. he told me he was confident if donald trump won michigan he would win as well.
