"today in the bay's" kris sanchez joins us live in danville. what are you seeing there, kris? >> reporter: well, it's always tri tricky to shoot wind when it's dark but we found flags at the veterans memorial building here in danville. you can see they're whipping pretty good. the biggest concern though is the wind whipping through the diablo range and the hills there. cal fire says this is the time it is critical to be aware. they say 95% of wildfires are started by people and most of the time it is inadvertent. cal fire reminds us that you should not mow anything today because of its winds and the high fire danger. if you have car trouble, make sure you don't pull over in dry grass. if you're hauling something, check that trailer chain, that it's not dragging and creating sparks, and if you smoke, make sure you put those cigarette butts out completely but never out the window, and though today is not a good day to create a defensible space, you want to do that as soon as you possibly can. i'll be posting wildfire prevention tips all morning long. also any wildfire danger and

thanks for joining us, i'm kris sanchez. >> i'm marcus washington. this is happening on 880 and oakland. bob redell is live with the latest. bob. >> reporter: good morning, marcus and kris. chp has taken into custody a 25-year-old man who had been brandishing what appeared to be a handgun. we're on northbound 880, 66th avenue ramp. he had been driving a white van. this is what the scene looked like when chp surrounded the van and took him into custody. the call came across that he had a handgun, that he got out of his van and started pointing that gun and shooting that gun towards the side of the road. when police arrived, they did not find any shots fired. they weren't able to confirm anyone was hurt or that the building or any property was damaged. and they found that weapon. they believe it is now a pellet gun, not a handgun. at one point, the man was on top of the van, yelling at traffic. police were -- chp were able to take him into custody. they are now taking him to john george hospital, where he'll be placed on a 72 hour psychiatric hold. they
