pete suratos is live at that scene with the major progress firefighters have made overnight. pete, it looks like they have things under control at this point. >> reporter: yeah, marcus, things are definitely under control here on south fourth street in front of that metal facility that caught on fire yesterday. of course, it's a much different scene here. look, as we're standing here you can still kind of smell that odor in the air but i confirmed with richmond fire that there are no longer high levels of chemicals in the air since that fire is under control. no shelter in place for folks in this area. you guys are taking a look at the scene yesterday when those flames were very high. according to richmond fire they're saying this all started just after 5:00 underneath a pile of scrap metal at the recycling facility. it's too early to tell what caused that fire, but immediately fire officials ordered five neighborhoods in richmond to shelter in place. basically right now crews are working with the facility to move piles of that scrap metal looking for any hot spots. fire crews
