they may be the clearest close- ups of pluto's surface humans have ever seen, according to nasa. the black and white images show craters, mountains and terrain along a strip some 50 miles wide. although their spacecraft sped past pluto this past summer, nasa says it will take about a year to transfer all of the photos and data. bree skies are very slowly clearing from west to east across the state and will continue to do so overnight. temperatures will settle into the 20s in western iowa where skies clear out first and 30s for eastern iowa where clouds will linger into the morning hours. fog will begin to develop late night tonight into early tomorrow morning. once the fog coupled with a southerly breeze at 5 to 15 mph will take over and warm us back into the 50s in central and southern iowa with northern iowa getting into the 40s. the week ahead looks to be mainly dry with the thermometer sitting well above average in the 50s all week. several days look to be windy, particularly thursday through the end of the week. the pattern looks to switch next weekend as temperatures return

nasa releases new up-close photos of pluto -- thanks to the new horizons space craft. the space craft captured the images during its closest fly-by ever in july. scientists are using the high resolution pictures to learn more about the dwarf planet. nasa says they expect to release if you haven't heard -- the hawkeyes are heading to the rose bowl. and fans already have their eyes on tickets to the big game in pasadena, california on new years day. the university will have 22 thousand tickets available for the game against stanford. they sold all of their ten-thousand tickets that were available for the big ten championship game and they expect the same will happen with the rose bowl tickets. the orders are being done online -- even for those who go to the ticket box office. rose bowl tickets and our computer was so jammed up we couldn't get through so i said i'm going down i'm not going to miss out on getting tickets." the university is selling tickets starting at 150 dollars -- but some are already going for more than 600 dollars on stubhub. nike signs superstar lebro
