as for quarterback sam bradford, this will be his first case of the eagles/boys rivalry. he's never experienced the rivalry firsthand, but bradford is learning quickly. >> you know, i think i'm learning quickly that there's not a lot of love lost between the two sides. i think a couple of the guys were, you know, yesterday everyone was talking about they had some choice words for dallas. obviously, what was it, our first or second practice they had the banner over the stadium. obviously, this is a big game for both teams. >> took a while for the eagles to get going monday night, but when they did they moved the rock through the air but did so methodically. they didn't attempt any deep passes, despite having a quarterback with great arm strength, but chip kelly says there's a reason why. >> sam's got a strong arm as anybody in the league, but when playing that type of defense, you know, they are not going to let the ball, and that's part of it, they kept the ball in front of them. we had no issues moving the ball in the second half. he was 21 of 25 and we're moving the ball

obviously, gave some up. >> reporter: how about sam bradford?e hadn't played a game in 22 months, was rusty in the first half, but in the second half he looked pretty good, didn't he? he had the most completions in his career, third highest yardage total in his career, and he actually gave the eagles the lead. eagles took the lead, but then lost the game. sam had an x-ray after the game as a precaution, he says he's okay, chip says he's okay. here's chip today on bradford's performance. >> there's a couple i don't know if it was his first game of the year, but he wants back. that's natural when you don't complete the pass or it's not located where you want it. i don't think it's because he didn't play in two years. i thought he was extremely accurate in the other games he played, whether it being the ravens game or whether it being in the packers game, so i don't attribute it to the two years, but there's throws in the first half we weren't as crisp as we were in the second half. >>> and another flyer, former flyer, has announced his retirement.

if you saw that game, sam bradford newly acquired quarterback did not look very good.ans had heads down wondering what was going on, especially after the preseason. and the potent office that chip kelly showed in the preseason. and all of the points that were scored. this team did not do much. the second half they came to life and got a quick turnover on the first position and started to gain momentum. and newly acquired demarco murray and scored. but in the end parkey missed the field goal and they lose. the fans are still optimistic about this eagles' team. >> it was slow, but every game yesterday was slow. and i knew they were going to many could back. i told my friends the eagles in the second half are going to come back. and demarco murray two touchdowns, that's all we need. >> do you feel as good about this team as you did before the game? >> absolutely. you have got to keep the faith. the philly fans have to keep the faith and belief in chip, he will take us to the promised land. >> the question mark coming into the game for many fans was the eagles' secondary.
