heather ishimaru explains. >> when the san bruno pipeline exploded last september gas records manager larry medina had been retired for 17 years but he is third generation pg&e and could not ignore what happened. when it became clear that records of seamless pipe were wrong and records might be at the heart of the accident he left messages with pg&e executive to tell him where the records should be. they said well we are convinced we can't find the information and it probable never existed. my blood boiled that because i knew it existed. i was being paid ten years to manage it. he told n.t.s.b. he got back to him in september but they contacted jackie speier speer's office. he came forward not to harm pg&e but to help. i feel very sorry for the people harmed and any others that might be harmed from lack of information being available but i know the information exists and i have a feeling it still exists. >> pg&e thanked the ntsb for their work and it will continue to work to gain confidence of their customers. there will be a final report that is august 30th for release. >> coming up

at the intersection of glen view and san bruno. john fowler has what we still have to learn. >> reporter: even though the pipeline that is being dug up has not been operated for a half century, there's something new about it, it might hold a clue of a deadly blast and how to prevent them in the future. the commission gave pg & e a double task. >> remove an 8-foot section of pipeline that was decommissioned back in 1956. >> reporter: since that pipe has not been pressurized or depressure sized its welds will be similar to when they were brand new, including any defects. that's good because several pipelines are still working beneath cities,including crowded san francisco. >> we are going to look with a camera, about 250 feet of

the pipeline 132 extends from san bruno through south san francisco up to san bruno mountain. the pipe runs through the yards of dozens of homes. south city officials want pg&e to move the pipe when it begins a major replacement project next year. the utility is working with the city on the solution and says recent tests didn't show major dangers. if you have business to take care of at the courthouse you want to get that done as soon as possible. the budget crisis is trickling down to court houses. the state courts are preparing to absorb $350 million of cuts this fiscal year. this means longer waits to file divorce cases, or to resolve legal fights between silicon valley companies. on some days court houses will just be shut down. in the bay area it could mean plans to build a new family court house in downtown san jose, those plans could be shuttered. the state judicial council will meet friday to consider recommended cuts. >> a lawsuit could be filed as early as today challenging laws that kill redevelopment agencies throughout the state. the league of california cities an

but the san bruno gap, that's why it gets windy at the airport too. it funnels the fog into the east bay and that's where we are right now. and that's where we'll be tomorrow. we'll see more fog tomorrow obviously. here's the deal. as we go into your bay area weekend, a little less fog and a little warmer. i got some calls yesterday to the weather center and i said, we love the fog and i like the fog too. it's just when it's not a normal pattern, it's so much fog, so much below average that people kind of throws you off a little bit. you expect it to be dry with the livermore and find temperatures in the 80s not in the 60s and 70s. at the coast you always expect 60s. there's still a low pressure center out there. you see the next one coming in and that's the mechanism for the fog. with the fog being so pronounced it's just pushing inland. we're in the same pattern, a little warmer today. i think we'll see some upper 70s and low 80s as we get out to brentwood. mostly 70s, and it's unusual. now the upshots are the air quality has been, we haven't had a
