south. parts of alameda and contra costa county right now getting a steady rain coming down. it's a sloppy commute for all of us here. this moisture meeting up with some colder air, so it's going to be a chilly day. take a look at our drought monitor. i want to go back and forth and show you how it looked last week. we're still looking at dark reds indicating the highest level of drought, the exceptional drought. we've seen some minor improvements in the southern sierra. going from exceptional to extreme drought. here in the bay area, still very dry. this historical drought does continue even as we see all of this rain coming in. hopefully we'll continue to make dents in the drought as we go into the next several weeks with more rain like what we've seen. so far we've measured 3 inches of rain in the santa cruz mountains, san bruno nearing 2 inches and morgan hill approaching an inch of rain there. looking at the rain hour by hour, still raining throughout the morning, but then starting to taper off. we will have a chance to see some thunderstorms, especially by late morning
