. >> let's get right to susie steimle live in foxboro with more on this. what can you tell us, susie? >> reporter: kathryn, i can tell you probably the most remarkable part about the story is that no one was hurt. this driver called police and reported he was shot at on 495 and able to pull over safely. if you take a look at the video, you can see his sedan was completely shattered from gunshots that were fired. initial reports indicate that it was at least three shots that were fired at this car. it happened around 11:00 on the southbound side of the highway just before exit 15. police spent their time overnight looking for ballistics and trying to track down a suspect. so far, they've been unsuccessful in that endeavor. no arrests have been made. one of the more important things to mention, though, police do believe that this was targeted and not random. we will bring you more information as it becomes available, but for now, live in foxboro, susie steimle, wbz news this morning. >>> we're also following a developing story right now. former nba star lamar

susie steimle is live outside the statehouse with all of the details. good morning, susie. >> good morning, kathryn. parents, teachers, and students are expected to descend on beacon hill to debate this consistently contentious topic, charter schools. governor baker is expected to talk about the topic as well, supporting charter schools because he's consistently been a supporter in the past. this morning, he is expected to talk about a proposal that would add up to a dozen new or expanded charter schools each year in the state of massachusetts. meanwhile, another bill is being proposed that would suggest a moratorium on schools. there are currently 80 massachusetts. many parents each year are fighting to get their kids into these privately operated and publicly funded institutions. more than 37,000 students were on a waiting list this school year to get their kids into charter schools. critics of charter schools will say that these bills to support the creation of new charter schools would create a two- tiered education system. it will be a contentious d

susie steimle is live with more. good morning. >> i can tell you probably the most remarkable part about the story is that no one was hurt. you'll see what i mean when you take a look at the vehicle. the driver's side window of the sedan was completely blown out. if you look at the bottom of the window there, you can see all of that broken glass from bullets. some shooting happened right around 11:00 on 495 southbound in wrentham. that driver was able to pull over, call police, tell them everything that happened. he's completely fine. not even taken to the hospital. police then started their investigation, looking for a suspect. haven't been able to track anyone down at this point in time and haven't made any arrests, either. one of the most important parts about the investigation where it stands right now is that police say they do not believe that this was a random event. they think it was a targeted shooting. so they don't want the general public to be alerted about a shooter in that area of wrentham because they

susie steimle is live with the latest. susie, good morning. >> reporter: good morning , kathryn. for 11 years, 24 hours a day issue 7 days a weak -- 24 hours a day, 7 days a week someone has been on the property fighting to keep this church open to pray. today they will continue that fight and fight back against an appeal's court the property. they closed this church back in 2004. it was a decision by the catholic archdiocese as sexual assault allegations began to surface within the church. partitioners have been fighting to keep it open. in march the archdiocese moved forward trying to get property. yesterday the appeals supreme court said they are now today we expect them to speak as to their right to be on this property and their fight to keep it open. they will be holding a press conference at 11:00. their lawyers have said in the past if necessary they're willing to take this further and go all the way to the supreme court if they have to. susie steimle. >>> a local police department is a couple of marijuana growers. officers posted this picture with dug up marijuana plants.

susie steimle is live with the latest on the investigation. susie, good morning. >> reporter: good morning, kathryn. this is the second sexual assault reported on bridgewater state university's campus in as many months. we know last month a young woman reported being attacked inside of her dorm room. this week was different. a freshman student connected with a man she's never met before on a social media app called the kick. she agreed to meet that man on campus and that's where she said she was attacked. she was able to give police a description saying this was a white man looking older than people are asking the public to look at the composite sketch and report to them if that looks like someone familiar to you. students are shaken up but also say it's making them rethink their social media activity. >> people need to be more aware that you don't know exactly who you are talking to on the other end of some of these sites. >> there's a lot of apps where people are doing that. it's not a bad thing. >> i think she shouldn't have met him alone if

susie steimle is live for us in west roxbury. you just caught up with one of the victims. >> reporter: i did, kathryn. i caught up with the owner a while ago. fortunately, he has been discharged from the hospital and says he's doing okay and pointed to his arm where he received stab wounds. he says he and his co-worker, who's also stabbed, should be okay. if you look at the store front, it's all quiet, still blocked off with crime scene tape. the whole block is still blocked off with crime scene tape at this point in time. all of this taking place just before 9:30. police say that a suspect walked into the store with his dog, and then got into some kind of a fight with the owner, left, came back and the owner and co-worker were able to fight-off and only sustained nonlife-threatening injuries. here's how police described it. >> the suspect came in prior to the incident. there were words about bringing the dog into the store. he left. the suspect returned back with counter and attempted to rob the store owner. >> reporter: that su

susie steimle is live in worcester with the reason why. good morning, susie. >> reporter: good morning, kathryn. the abby telecharter school specifically has a policy in place to make sure that things like this don't happen. bus drivers must make sure that a parent or guardian is there to pick up every student at the bus stop so they are not left alone. because the student was left alone, that driver is now temporarily suspended with pay, pending this investigation. unfortunately, being left alone at the bus stop is not the worst thing to happen to this 5-year-old boy. after being left there he was then hit by a car on hamilton street. this happened on monday afternoon. he suffered a broken leg and minor head injury. thankfully there were a couple of people nearby who saw this and stopped to help this boy. saw. >> we talked to him saying open your eyes, open your eyes. he opened his eyes and was trying to get up. we said stay where you are. don't move. >> he had an egg on his head like the size of a baseball and was bleeding from the mouth

our reporter susie steimle is live in boston with new developments on this class action suit here. susie? >> reporter: good morning, chris. we're live for the second time this week as the company tries to win back the public's interest, a class action lawsuit is filed accusing the company of fraud, false advertising, and negligence. it's also in that class action lawsuit rival site fan dual. these are fantasy sports sites that allow tons on the weekend rather than waiting for the entire season. they have been wildly popular this season. earlier this week, we learned that a draftkings employee earned $350,000 on rival site fan duel. then we learned others claimed $6,000 launching an investigation by the attorney general of new york. maura healey says fans have expectations. >> i think that those who play want to be and expect to be assured a level playing field. i think someone who cares about that is in place. >> reporter: as she said, fans should have expectations of the sites treating their fans fairly. draftkings and fan dual have yet to speak publicly on this issue. we're live i

susie steimle, it is a big check today. chris and kathryn. should minimum wage be raised as one of the big questions that's going to be debated at the statehouse and a group that believes it should be is going to rally on the statehouse steps at 11:30 this morning. currently, minimum wage in massachusetts is $9 an hour. it will be going up to $11 an hour by 2017, but this group says that's not enough. they want to see minimum wage raised to $15 an hour. there have been recent successes in other cities. san francisco, new york, and los angeles all raised minimum wage recently. that's giving people in massachusetts hope that it will happen here as well. the proposal would raise wages for fast food workers, retail employees and home care workers. so they will start with a rally steps. then they will take it to committee debate at 1:00 inside of the statehouse. they will march on mcdonald's from the statehouse steps to mcdonald's at 2:30 this afternoon. so a very busy date of spirited debate ahead on beacon hill. institution susie steimle, wbz th

susie steimle is live for us at logan with what he's accused of. good morning, susie. >> reporter: good morning, kathryn and chris. he is accused of making very uncomfortable comments to passengers on board a united airlines flight to chicago. the 55-year-old man from uxbridge now under arrest saying he had a bomb in his bag. that's what he told moment am passengers according to police on board this flight 439. it's supposed to take off around 6:00 because of this incident. they delayed it about 50 minutes. police had to come on to the plane to make this arrest. they can hold him here overnight. this turned out to be a false bomb threat. at the airport they take things like this very seriouslyp he it charged with making a false bomb threat. he's scheduled to appear on these charges later this morning. we're live at logan airport. seuss sigh steimle, wbz news this morning. >>> the prep school student convicted of the sexual assault of a classmate will be sentenced today. owen la brie was convicted on five counts in the assault of the prestigious new

susie steimle is live in bridgewater with reaction from students. good morning, susie. >> reporter: good morning, chris. as you know, this is the second sexual assault reported on this campus in as many months. we know that another female student reported being raped inside of her dorm room about a month ago today. this one was different. it was reported monday night. the female student says that she used a social media app called kick to meet a stranger in a parking garage. that's where she says she was attacked. she was able to give police a pretty good description. that's where this composite comes from. she says it was a 5' 10'' white male older looking than college age with a very deep voice. so police are hoping that people will take a good look at that composite and get to them if you see anyone who looks familiar or similar to that drawing. this incident has students on campus worried about using any apps like this to connect with strangers. >> people need to be aware that talking to on the other end of some of these sites. >> there's a lot o

susie steimle is live for us with all the detail. going to cause quite a headache. >> reporter: it did. yesterday was a disaster for travelers across the country on southwest airlines. 450 flights were delayed because of this computer glitch. some passengers were even given handwritten tickets. this morning, though, some good news from logan. no long lines. the kiosks appear to be working flights as regularly scheduled so it looks at least at this location that computer glitch has been fixed. southwest said yesterday it's not sure what caused the glitch but people were waiting in long lines that wrapped all around the airport. the suggestion still today is that customers show up two hours early. the only people that didn't have problems yesterday were people that printed their tickets at home and didn't have to check bags. sort of chance of a hassle, morning. otherwise if these delays persist which right now it does not look like they're going to at least at this location, you could be waiting in long lines. >> there were people sitt
