sam sweeney is in aberdeen as investigators look into what went wrong. >> the story that has the nation talking, how does a $175 million military blimp goal is an float away. ? it is in question -- a question investigators must answer. i want to show you some video from the u.s. military that shows how big this massive blimp is. 7000 pounds. almost the size of a football field. somehow the tattered came loose -- the tether came loose yesterday. andas dragging the cable taking out power lines and 20,000 people lost power in pennsylvania. nobody was injured and no lives were lost. s were these blimp launched in december and the manufacturer said it would be almost impossible for them to come on tethered -- if they did they would quickly deflate. they floated 160 miles away. no people or property were injured or damaged. that is the good news. investigators remain on the ground and will do so for much of the day if not the week trying to figure out how this happened and how they will get this blimp with classified information back to maryland. verdict could come at any time in the alexandr

sam sweeney has the latest. sam: yet another bloody night in the district. two people were stabbed on this pedestrian bridge on k street between second and 3rd street just after 1:00 in the morning. police say two people were stabbed, one in the leg and the other in the abdomen. the man stabbed in the abdomen was pronounced dead and the other was taken to the hospital where he is recovering. we learned this incident began over third and i street. you see a massive police response. investigators from the homicide unit coming for clues, trying to figure out what led to the stabbing, if there is a motive, and who the suspect may be. with any information you are asked to contact the metropolitan police department. this marks the 123rd homicide in the district for the year. also poringce are over surveillance video from a deadly overnight shooting. the 21-year-old victim was shot out side the montgomery village shopping center. police are searching for the suspect, believed to be teenagers. john gonzales has more. john: several witnesses telling police they heard
