ktvu tara moriarty is live near the evacuation center to tell us where people can go.t peacock tree drive and clayton. we are not too far from that evacuation. we spoke to officials that were in charge of the ground crew. they said last night the flames looked much, much worse. right now the humidity is higher. once the sun comes up it may flair up again. behind me up on the ridge there is a little bit of a flair up. it does look a little better than it did a half hour ago. we understand just before midnight there are more evacuations in place. people who live on trail ride road. russellman park road have all been ordered out by emergency crews. there are two dozen homes in that spot. earlier last tight we had 50-75 homes evacuated off of oak hill lane. curry canyon road. officials are advising those leaving the homes to take morgan territory road and bring essential items only. they should lock their windows and doors behind them. many people we spoke to said they were scared and surprised by the evacuation orders. not only for themselves but the animals. there are so

ktvu's tara moriarty joins us live from mt. ablo to show us what fire crews are doing now to get the fire completely under control. tara? >> reporter: we're close to the summit. crews have been schedule offing hot spots trying to make sure none of the flames re-ignite in the wind. if we take a look over here, you can see how it looks like no-man's-land and this tree, half of it was spared but the other half completely charred. over there, you can actually see where the fire stopped. right now, calfire is at 70% containment and hopes to have everything fully under control by friday. at 8:00 this morning, hundreds of firefighters left base camp in dublin and headed for the mountains. there are nearly 1400 firefighters. many will be released today, however. calfire has lowered the number as acreage burned 3,133 acres. it's lifted evacuation orders for dozens of families out of their homes. >> what our focus will be, keep it in the box. we have it pretty much contained, but it's not out. there's still a lot of interior burning going

ktvu channel 2 reporter, tara moriarty, is live with the big backups drivers are seeing and what may be to blame. tara, good morning. >> reporter: good morning. the metering lights went on a little after 6:00. it's backed you. we're sort of timing it here. you can see the congestion. there was a truck at the west grand overcrossing it took him ten minutes to get to the toll plaza in the fast lane. a lot of traffic here. that's nothing new. but what is new, yesterday, the traffic never let up. dozens of drivers were taking cell phone video as they went through there. the chp was issuing plenty of warnings for distracted driving. motorists experienced congestion all way. many came out of town to gawk at the bridge. the chp says after the long holiday weekend, we saw a lot of cars because it was the first day back to school, back to work. in san francisco, at about 5:30 last night, drivers were trying to get onto the bridge. the ramps were extremely backed up. drivers grew frustrated saying the congestion lasted all the way past market street. keep in mind, the new bridge has the same nu
