bob: demonstrators gather in canton today to protest the decision to allow a deer hunt in state officials say the area is overpopulated with the animals, which they claim has a negative effect on vegetation, leads to more deer-vehicle accidents, and the spread of lyme disease. but the group cites concerns for the deer, public safety threats, and questions about the validity of the studies backing the hunt including what they claim is misleading information about lyme disease. the controlled hunt will be permitted over 4 days in coming weeks. a dcr spokesperson responded today by saying, the health of the blue hills state reservation' s forest has been, and continues to be, negatively affected by the current overabundance of deer. dcr has taken considerable steps to ensure the public' s safety during this controlled hunt. pam: with the holidays upon us extra efforts are being made to ensure those in need can celebrate the season. today bags of food were dropped off at the wellesley food pantry. girls scouts, boy scouts, and volunteers. it' s all part of the annual scouting for food drive.
