and natasha and jill are back with us. i want to go back to what we heard the president say, this was that n that impromptu meeting with reporters tonight before getting on air force one. did he think robert mueller's investigation would be fair, what was your reaction to how he answered that question? >> it's typical trump. he said we'll see. that's what he says about everything. but there was one other thing that he said in that dialogue. and that was, for the first time he said, no obstruction. he has said hundreds of times no collusion, no collusion, no collusion. but tonight was the first time i heard him say and there's no obstruction. the obstruction case is, of course, quite clear and pretty strong. so that's an interesting thing that he is now adding that. and also the timing of his telling flynn he wanted loyalty, the day after he learns that flynn has talked to the fbi is extremely suspicious and makes it look very bad. it's another step that looks like more obstruction to me. >> and natasha, this nbc reporting

natasha brown live at the criminal justice center in center city with what's happened so far, natasha? >> the trial has gotten underway this morning, opening arguments, are all ready done and the trial certainly in motion as we speak. we understanded it has been very emotional day specially for officer hartnett nel's family members, they're having to relive this awful movement involving their loved one. thirty-two year old edwards archers is accused of shooting officer jessie hartnett in the name of isis two years ago. officer hartnett was ambushed and shot while sitting inside his patrol car. back in january of 2016. hartnett was hit several times , and was ultimately hit in the arm. but did manage to return fire after he was attacked. we did catch up with commissioner ross, here at the courthouse, earlier this morning, shortly after the trial got underway. >> this is major trial that we're dealing with. and as was stated inside, you know, attempted assassination of a philadelphia police officer, not too two days after i was sworn in, matter of fact. so obviously i will never forget

we'll go ladies first here, natasha. we heard the president there at camp david.e seems pretty annoyed by "the new york times" article detailing his struggle to keep a grip on the investigation. >> absolutely. this is more evidence that mueller is building a pretty aggressive obstruction of justice case against the president. he keeps saying that there is no collusion, no collusion, but what he doesn't seem to realize is that collusion is not the only thing that robert mueller is investigating. he also has a ton of evidence, it seems, especially from this "new york times" report, that trump was furious when he learned that jeff sessions had recused himself from the russia investigation. jeff sessions' aide, one of them, went to capitol hill and looked for dirt on james comey they could give to the press to discredit him. all of these are further evidence that robert mueller is, you know, getting closer to trump's inner circle and in an attempt to determine whether or not trump had corrupt intent when he fired james comey. >> and, natasha, the trump tower meeting,

natasha is still with us. let me start with you. what is the significance of bob mueller being interested in the tone and tenor and substance of donald trump's conversations with andy mccabe? >> well, he's trying to establish if there is a pattern of behavior here by the president to try to influence, you know, the fbi essentially, the same fbi that is investigating his campaign for potential collusion with the russians, the same fbi that's investigating whether or not he obstructed justice when he fired james comey. so, these are, you know, these are all indications that trump, you know, according to people that i speak to, that trump seems to view the fbi as kind of his own personal police force, and that is really disturbing on a number of levels. most prominently because it is the bureau that is investigating him for potential miss deeds. so, the fact that he asked comey for loyalty, according to this report he wanted to know whether mccabe was -- had voted for him or whether he had voted for hillary clinton is extremely telling
