pete suratos has just gathered new information for us. pete, what is the very latest? >> well, good morning to you, laura and sam. we're on harrison. we want to show you this three-story structure where the fire took place an hour ago. fire officials say it is fully contained. i have new information to share with you. two residents were inside this building that had minor injuries. no word if they have been transported. we asked if there were any rescues. no confirmed rescues at this time. as far as people inside, they're still trying to process how many people were inside and how many people were eventually displaced. it looks like most of the folks were able to get out of this building in time when the fire took place. we know red cross is on the scene to help the folks out. once again, that is a three-story structure. the fire has been fully contained. crews will remain on the scene this morning. they are trying to determine what caused this fire in the first place. back to you guys in the newsroom. >> thanks for the latest. pete will stay out there and gather more

"today in the bay's" pete suratos live with how things stand at this hour. good morning, pete. >> reporter: yeah, good morning to you, laura. and look, as things stand, this road is flooding even more here off of neely road, which has been shut down here off of highway 116 in guerneville. folks are still coming through, but it's flooded the -- it's a residential area and you can see, there's a mailbox that's here. i want to show you -- i know we're going to show some other video, but you look down this way, you can see there's a log down there apparently that probably fell down as a result of these storms. you can clearly see that this road is flooded out. it's a good idea to stay away from it. as far as the russian river levels right now, the last check was at about 32 feet. right now, they're expecting it leisu -- well, county officials are expected it to hit 38 feet. then we'll be in the significant flooding stages. as a result in these low-lying areas here in guerneville, you had evacuations. folks were sent to a nearby shelter over there, at the santa ro

nbc bay area pete suratos is live at the bridge. pete, they need an additional $2 million. the question is what is it for? >> reporter: yeah, good morning to you, kris. you know what the board of directors here in the golden gate bridge district just to prove that $2 million we were just talking about right there, they approved it to manage traffic during the construction of the suicide barriers because it's going to take up to four years to install those barriers so it's going to take quite a length of time, guys. the cost of this project has doubled the past few years since it was approved. the cost is at about $200 million. the way it's going to look, a stainless steel net seven football fields long suspended 200 feet above the pacific ocean on both sides of the golden gate bridge. $2 million will go to chp who will manage the traffic during this time. here is a bridge spokesperson explaining how it is all going to work. >> the amount that is going to the chp is based on the number of hours we know we will need officers to help manage enforcement for those lane closures.

pete suratos is live near guerneville. we know you're almost knee-deep in water. >> reporter: that's correct, kris. the water is picking up. i want to show you guys something. you are seeing russia river. there was a medical call on the other side of the flooded road, so they had to bring someone over to this side. that's one of the many challenges we could see with the flooded roads here near the russian river in guerneville. as far as the river goes. it was reported it would be about 38 feet that it would crest at. russian river fire officials believe it will be 36 feet and they're saying it could be a typical flooding issue. they still have all hands on deck. and they'll have the national guard here also. the national guard will be here for assistance pretty much all day today following around russian fire if they need any assistance. but paul ryright now, this was who needed medical assistance on the road. it's very difficult trying to make their way through the flooded roads. this is something we'll keep an eye on thr

pete suratos is in guerneville. pete, tell usp/t#ñ >> reporter: yeah, good morning to you, scott.ou just mentioned there, we're in flood stage right now here in guerneville. this is a residential area, to show you some of the flooding we're seeing. see the garbage can over there in the distance. and it's really turned into a lake in this area. they deal with the flooding. and right now, according to the latest information we're getting, we know that the russian river in guerneville is at about 32 feet. it's expected to crest at about 58 feet. that's roughly around noon p.m. that's what we're being told from sonoma county officials. and as far as folks in these areas, they've been told to evacuate these low-lying areas here in guerneville as well as the monte ria area. you said there were school closures because of this. we'll see some of those evacuations off of freezeout road and highway 116, off of neely road, where we are right now. those evacuations are in place and a shelter is in place at the santa rosa veterans bill. a red cross shelter is there, expecting about a dozen. th
