alex savidge is joining us live from the fire scene. alex. >> reporter: good morning, to you.irefighters do believe this fire was accidental and many neighbors say it's in all likelihood it started -- >> all right we obviously have a technical problem with alex's mic. we will get back to him. it appears to have been an accidental fire. in the meantime in san francisco's mission district, firefighters are still watching for hot spots from another big fire. this one started early yesterday afternoon. it was huge. the big flames gutted the building, housing the big house incorporated retail store. the building was packed with clothing, with luggage, toys, and gifts. and you can see how thick that smoke was as well as the flames. and it was toxic. at least four people were treated for smoke inhalation including two firefighters. firefighters say the building itself was a total loss. investigators are still trying to figure out the cause of the fire. >>> a man suspected of trying to kidnap a teenager was arrested after someone recognized his photo here. they took 30-year-old joshua

ktvu's alex savidge is live along the freeway to explain how this was caused by a truck carrying barrels of a concrete mixture. good afternoon, alex. >> reporter: good afternoon. those barrels weighing several hundred pounds each flew from the back of the work truck and went bouncing down the freeway with cars coming toward them. the chp sergeant told me this morning, he was simply amazed that no one was seriously hurt in this chain reaction crash. this happened about 8:30 this morning along 680 between bollinger and the chp says this construction truck was carrying nine of those barrels when the driver drifted first into another car and then slammed into the center divide. those barrels fell onto both the northbound and southbound sides of the freeway. some cars did hit them. at least eight cars were damaged but incredibly, there were just two people treated here at this scene for minor injuries. we talked to the man who was driving that work truck carrying those barrels of the concrete mixture and also another driver involved in this accident. it was a frightening situation for everyon

ktvu's alex savidge is live to tell us why this house was targeted. good morning, alex. >> reporter: tori, good morning to you. police say two thieves came here to this home this morning to steal pot and that's because we understand there is a legal medical marijuana grow inside this home across the street from us. but this early-morning break-in ended with the homeowner being shot. he heard those two thieves inside his house and then police say he chased them outside. that's when they opened fire on him. the homeowner was shot once in the leg but he is going to be okay. this all happened about 1:30 this morning on windsor court. this is in the rincon valley neighborhood of santa rosa. following that shooting, those two thieves ran off and that prompted a major police search involving a helicopter and k-9 searches as well. one of the men was found hiding in the bushes and taken into custody. officers couldn't find the other young man involved here. police say the homeowner in this case really didn't want these thieves to get away. he even tried to deta
