northern virginia bureau chief jeff goldberg joining us live to explain why that is it. jeff? jeff: we are hearing mixed reactions to this plan. at this time of day you can see the traffic build up on 66. it's a real nightmare. the virginia transportation leaders have a plan to reduce the pain on the roads. this morning in a unanimous vote in alexandria the commonwealth transportation board agreeing to move forward with a plan to add tolling on i-66 inside the beltway. it will have solo drivers paying to use the h.o.v. lane similar somewhat to the hot lanes on 495, 395 and i-95. vehicles with two or more drivers will still be allowed to use the lanes for free. the price of the toll will depend on the traffic volume but it is expected to be in the average of $5 to $7. transportation officials say the move could open the door for widening 66 as well at some point in the future.
