"eyewitness news" reporter justin finch is live with the very latest, justin it appears there is very much a scene behind you. >> reporter: good morning, that fire fighter is stable with a minor injury but despite cpr and on the scene efforts to save their lives a man and woman died both found on the first floor of their home. let's take you to "eyewitness news" viewer video that shows flames leaping from the rooftop of this house on the 9800 block of bridal road. fire fighters pulled up just before midnight to an intense interior fire a full box alarm was quickly called sending as many as 40 fire fighters, four fire engines two ladder trucks and two chiefs, crews pushed in and trapped that fire to the first floor, knocking it down in just 35 minutes, they say, but inside, two victims were found, a man and a woman. neighbors say that they are a couple in their 50's and just took their daughter off to college. one victim was found in the foyer, the other in the living room area. >> unfortunately the bustleton section of philadelphia, suffered a tragedy today, and the companies found tw

police say that shooting may have stemmed from an earlier altercation, "eyewitness news" reporter justin finch is live outside of police headquarters with the latest on the investigation. good morning, justin. >> brooke, jim, good morning, police have seen surveillance video of this fatal shooting, and also, say that friends of that victim spent part of their overnight here speaking about his final moments alive on the day he waist born. looking at video from the investigation overnight, close to 11:30 last night, 24th district police got several calls to the 700 block of east allegheny avenue. there officers found a man age 30, shot in his upper back, and head, hours before his birthday. he was unconscious and with time running out those officers got him to temple hospital themselves. he died there, short time later. his friends, who saw it all, gave police tips that point to motive. >> based on witness accounts, this 30 year old victim was involved in a prior physical altercation with other males in the immediate area. and we believe that is the motive for this shooting. >> and back liver, p

justin. neighbors in bustleton tried to in vain to rescue two people from overnight hours fire. jason finchhows us firefight firefighters faced quite the battle when they arrived. >> reporter: minutes before midnight this fire began scorching a split level house on the 9800 block of bridal road. heavy smoke and roof ripping flames captured on camera by an "eyewitness news" viewer. within 35 minutes, philadelphia firefighters say they contained it and kept it from spreading. one firefighter was treated for minor injury. and inside that home, crews found two trapped. >> companies found two victims on the inside on the first floor. they brought them out and started cpr immediately. i'm sad to announce that we lost both of them. >> reporter: neither was immediately identified. we're told one victim was found in the foyer. the other in the living room area. across the street this panicked neighbor's fears were confirmed. >> i'm extremely shocked. i was actually -- i was actually crying a little bit because i hope they got out. >> reporter: she says the victims just got their daughter off to coll

"eyewitness news" reporter justin finch is live a at the scene this birmingham township, justin, good morning. >> reporter: good morning. this is a remote area so that presents its own challenges but state and local fire marshals have been here combing through the scene searching for a cause in what is a a fatal house fire. looking at the aftermath here overnight in birmingham township, chester county, we are north of the brandywine creek state park. it took an hour to knock this fire down in what was a cold overnight fire fight. tanker trucks hauled in what the tore keep hosing down flames and hot spots after a house on the the 1300 block of south birmingham road. first call to the fire came in close to 11:10 last night and minutes before midnight a call for the medical examiner. a sad sign of one life lost. and just before 2:00 a.m. we are told a loved one arrived here to identify the remains of that lone fire victim. of course, the investigation continues this morning, looking now live inside of this home as you can see tremendous amounts of damage here of what appears to be the ki

"eyewitness news" reporter justin finch is live with what we know right now, justin. >> reporter: jim and brooke, two wounded male officers are boston police force vets one serving 28 years, other about 12 and at this hour both are in extremely critical condition, officials say this all began close to 11:00 with reports of the man with the gun as he is in his boston home spark by a fight between that suspect and a roommate. now upon arrival, boston police commissioner said responding officers came under fire with officers dragging the two wound todd safety while firing back. one officer was hit once or twice, the second, shot several times. that expected shooter is said to be a man in his early 30's and commissioner says he is wearing a bullet-proof vest and he fired an assault rifle, suspect was later found dead, investigation is now underway. >> two individuals that probably nomos about what happened tonight are behind us, at mass general fighting for their lives, so like mayor walsh and commissioner evans, i ask the city, and the region to please pray for them for their well-being

"eyewitness news" reporter justin finch picks up the story live now from police headquarters this morning. justin? >> reporter: jan, jim, good morning, the man who was shot is in stable condition at the hospital. meantime, as internal affairs and east detective look into this shooting, the officers are on administrative duty per department political i this all begins on a house, at a house rather, 3800 block of else on, just after 10:30 last night, a man in his 50's reported as suicidal, armed, possibly intoxicated. two officers from the 24th district responds dollars and met by member of that man's family, who told them he was inside that house with a knife. apparently trying to harm himself. the two officers went in, and saw him with a large knife. police say he was asked to drop it several times but refused, instead, press that knife into his chest. and that's when officials say one officer tried to fire a taser to stop him, and did so. police say the man ripped out the taser prongs, and then the officers began to retreat. backing out of that house, and that officer then reloaded and r
