kathleen jacob... fox5 news. local. las vegas. a woman is dead - after being hit by a motorcycle last night in north las vegas. it happened just before 8-30 p-m.... at the intersection of lake mead and webster. was taken to u-m-c - where she was later declared dead. the motorcycle rider suffered minor injuries. the crash remains under investigation. it's unclear whether the woman was in a marked crosswalk. a deputy on a motorcycle was taken to a hospital - being hit by a vehicle in pahrump. the nevada highway patrol says it happened in the area of state routes 372 and 160 just before 11 this morning. the nye county deputy had the motorcycle's lights and sirens activated at the time of the crash. valley times reports the deputy was up and walking around after the crash. the deputy was airlifted to u-m-c with non-life threatening but serious injuries. there was no word of injuries involving the other driver in the incident. it was not immediately known if the driver will be cited. state officials are remembering thalia dondero... th

kathleen jacob is in studio... kathleen you just got back from the murder scene... what did you find out while you were there? alyssa right now they really don't know much...they're in the very beginning of this investigation. but what we do know is that someone shot and killed a 19-year- old male outside near the corner of blemont street and wright street in north las vegas. the coroner will release this man's identity once his family has been police say it happened right here on the street in front of this red truck. they got the call around 12:40 this morning... and when police arrived... they found a 19-year- old male suffering from a gunshot wound. he was taken to umc... where he later died. the whole block was taped off for hours as police continued to investigate this morning. at this point... they're looking for a small blue pickup truck that they think was involved... or may know something about who was involved. they don't have any other descripion of a suspect at this time. it's really early in the investigation right now. detectives are still conducting

fox5's kathleen jacob is live ... questions to the school... kathleen what did they have to say? guys... i've been calling and emailing back and forth with the school all day... and they did just tell me that at the time of the incident they were in the process of hiring a lot of different positions for their new campus... and one of those was a nurse. they do have a nurse on staff now... they say they care about their students and parents very much... and are confident that something like this will not happen again now that they have a nurse. i also asked them about procedure when it comes to contacting parents... and if this incident... but i have not heard back about that yet. like you said... this is something a lot of people were concerned about... you can see facebook post after facebook post from parents saying they think a parent should have been immediately contacted. we even have posts stating some have had similar experiences at that school and others. we wanted to know what procedures are like... not only at this school, which is a charter and not a part of the school
