abc 7 news reporter matt keller is live in mountain view at the scene. matt? >> reporter: fire cause investigators are here trying to determine what started this fire early this morning. neighbors tried to help before firefighters arrived banging on windows and doors trying to get the man who lives inside here out of the house but flames and smoke were just too overwhelming. that wasn't the only danger. check out this firefighters say there was ammunition in the garage believed to be bullets. a neighbor told me the man who lives there alone is about 60 years old and works as a consultant. he also spends time as a marksman competing in shooting competition competitions. firefighters found a man in back room leaved to be a bedroom. they were not able to save him. he died at the scene. while firefighters were in the house, a live wire came down. they had to be extra careful with that also dealing with flames and exploding ammunition. >> danger extremely high. active fire in it the structure. we have a report of a person trapped. we're dealing with ammunition goin

matt keller is at the courthouse with that report. >> the judge called a recess after a lengthy discussion about george mason shirakawa's sentencing after the former county supervisor expressed remorse in court for the crime and also apologized to the court and the voters and to the santa clara county community. this morning we had video of george shirakawa entering the courtroom. he had nothing to say. in the address to the court he got emotional at times and said he regretted his commends and accepted responsibility if creating a flyer in 2010 after being charged with launching a mailer to benefit a former city council member. the prosecutor wants shirakawa to spend a year in jail if he does not answer who helped him with this. the judge said shirakawa should get time served because his previous conviction he believes was a mistake by his previous attorney after serving seven months of one year. the judge is expected to give the sentence in the courtroom after the short recess. he could get community service or he could get jail time if the d.a. gets his way. >>> thanks, matt. a federal

i was a busy girl, mike was a busy guy and so was matt keller. and we had a wonderful time, because thousands took to the bay area streets this weekend to support families with babies who need some extra help. and i did take part in this event. it was wonderful. thousands came out. they braced the chill and the drizzle and raised millions of dollars. this is a march for babies. march of dimes. they hold this annual event every year here in the bay area and across 900 other cities. and it's a wonderful cause. because it raises money for families who are helping to raise premature babies. and a lot of babies die every year or suffer severe health problems because of this. so it's a really wonderful cause. and i just want to thank everyone for coming out. it's wonderful to meet everyone at ft. mason where this was taken. but matt was in san jose and mike in pleasanton this weekend. they're all out there. >> big kudos to all of you for your efforts and kristen sze also had a program with babies. >> that's right. i want to thank the fund-raiser, help
