of course, meteorologist kari hall is monitoring all of that. so how long is this batch of rain going to stick around? it's mostly throughout the morning and then some breaks. this afternoon. we are seeing the heaviest of that rainfall now moving through parts of the bay area. and this is a look at our live view of storm ranger, our mobile doppler radar. we have it parked on san bruno mountain and we are going to see the heavy rain mainly south of san francisco for today. but tomorrow the spotty showers will linger and it stays cloudy and cool. but heading into thanksgiving, we are expecting some morning fog. but overall a sunny and chilly day. here's a look at the latest atmospheric river that's been affecting the central coast to the south bay, but also sending some waves of rain farther northward and affecting some of the areas that are trying to dry out and recover from all the rain we had last week. we are seeing the rain now, moving back into marin county and santa rosa, but where we see the yellows and reds on storm ranger is now moving a

meteorologist kari hall, of course. tracking what we can expect today. and we've been talking about some incoming rain this week. and we're going to be talking a lot about this. the rain right now looking at the radar and the satellite, you can see that we are all in the clear for today. there's not a whole lot happening close to home, but across the pacific northwest you can see all of the rain coming in and all of the clouds extending out into the pacific. it will be coming in over the next few days. we will have our first major atmospheric river coming in, and it arrives on wednesday during the afternoon into the evening, and it looks like pretty much all of the bay area gets some rain. but then that atmospheric river starts to wave a little bit to the north and takes with it the rain just mainly into the north bay on thursday and then friday it starts to sink back down and may be more intense with some higher winds and the heavy rain continuing at least into the start of the weekend. so we're looking at some pretty significant rainfall here farther t

i want to check in with meteorologist kari hall.w, we're in this high fire danger zone right now. yeah, and it does continue a little bit later in the day for southern california, as we're still getting those high wind gusts there. as we take a closer look at the hour by hour wind gusts forecast in that area of that fire, we're still looking at some of the mountain wind gusts at 30 to 40mph into the next few hours, but this afternoon it is expected to calm down, which will be great news for trying to help contain the fire. but we're all very critically dry and looking at this time of year when the vegetation is as dry as it can get, we're still going to have a breezy wind to start out this morning in san jose. we're in the low 50s and then headed for the low 70s. overall, though, it will be a very pleasant afternoon with sunshine and most of our temperatures reaching into the 70s for today and the next few days, we'll talk about when the rain finally comes back in a few minutes and mike, you're seeing an early backup for the bay bri

but we have a very busy morning, so we want to get a look at that forecast with meteorologist kari hall. good morning. kari. good morning. we've been talking a lot about the windy conditions that will be picking up as we go through the next couple of days, and for some of our hills, our mountains, those gusts may top 50mph. so some of those stronger wind gusts coming in tomorrow night through wednesday. but we're going to see day after day of these high winds that could create some issues for power. as well as trees. and we may have an elevated fire danger as well. so as we're getting started this morning in walnut creek, at least for now, the wind is still calm. it's 46 degrees. and as we go throughout the day, we're going to see those temperatures in the mid 60s at 10:00 and into the low 70s at noon, eventually making it into the mid seconds for today. notice these temperatures are pretty nice across the bay area, with some low to mid 70s and a few upper 70s in parts of the north bay. we'll be tracking those changes. we'll talk more about the wind and the impacts to the power that may

meteorologist kari hall has a look at that. kari.a morning early afternoon event clearing out by this evening, but it is a sloppy morning commute as we take a live look outside in oakland. and as you're heading out, you do need the windshield wipers. it hasn't yet made it to san jose, but we will see the showers arriving by about 9:00. here and it will be early with some of the rain and cool temperatures, but we're also watching some sierra snow that will make it down to about 6000ft. and then rain chances continue for midweek into the weekend. here's a look at some of the heavier rain that we can see with this storm system arriving. it's a cold front that will bring us a drop in temperatures overnight, but we're seeing a lot of the rain in parts of the east bay from 680 over toward 880, and it will be raining for a few more hours here. and getting even heavier. we're also seeing that rain near the coast and in the santa cruz mountains. watching all of this wet weather arriving and continuing to bring us about a quarter to half inch

i want to bring in meteorologist kari hall right now. she's been tracking the red flag warning for us. and kari, what are those conditions looking like today? yeah, this is a pretty extensive red flag warning. you can see all of the counties highlighted all the way up and down the california coastline. and we are going to see much of the bay area included in that as the humidity drops. and we're also going to see winds increasing. all of this begins at 11:00 this morning. and some of the hills and mountains will have the highest wind gusts. so we're looking at that pg&e power shut off and the outlook that we're expecting for today into tomorrow and possibly the next couple of days, the relative humidity is the other ingredient in that red flag warning. and as of now, the relative humidity is high. seeing it as we normally begin our mornings. but then as we go throughout the day, look at how critically dry that air becomes. only 14% relative humidity for livermore, which dries out the vegetation and there won't be much recovery tomorrow. i

meteorologist kari hall of course, monitoring the conditions outside wind. how is that a factor this morning? kari? well, we are not seeing much of a wind this morning. humidity is higher. so maybe that's the reason why we haven't seen it spread as quickly as we would have seen it. maybe yesterday or the day before. so that's the good thing this morning. also starting out cooler. it's in the low 40s in walnut creek. it's 49 in san francisco and 46 in palo alto. checking out our highs for this afternoon. it's going to be nice with some low 70s once again, very much the same temperatures we've seen throughout the weekend. we're also going to see that repeat tomorrow, but maybe slightly cooler in spots as we get more clouds coming in. we'll talk about rain ahead, but mike, you're looking at that friday commute is slower to build. yeah. so this looks almost the same as the last time we took a look about 5 or 7 minutes ago. we're looking at westbound 80. the bay bridge toll plaza slowing as you reach the edge of the screen, and the toll plaza itself. and we're loo

but first let's check in with meteorologist kari hall. she's tracking that forecast for us. oking, kari. it's looking better now. we are still watching two big storm systems. one is on the west, the other one is on the east. and the one that we're seeing right now is winding down, but still heading farther to the south. and that's going to give us some rain. if you're traveling down i-5 or 101. and we're also seeing some rain and snow showers moving into the rockies while out east, we are seeing this cold front, this storm system continuing to push into the northeast, but it's not causing any delays as of now. so travel delays are looking pretty good. we're not seeing any at any of the major airports as of now, so hopefully it stays that way. i know it's going to be a busy day, but let me show you what to pack here. if you're going to minneapolis. the high temperature today, 29 degrees, chicago 40. and just a heads up that if you are going to some of those area spots like chicago around thanksgiving is only going to see highs in the 20s, lows in the teens, this cold air is bl

we want to bring in meteorologist kari hall. m overnight. so, kari, what are we looking at there? as well as what's going on here? well, it's mostly across the north bay where we're going to see the heavy rain as we typically see with atmospheric rivers, it can really target certain areas, while other areas don't see much at all. so take a look at this system farther to the north, up around the pacific northwest. there, closer to that area of low pressure, that bomb cyclone that you probably heard about, that's an area of low pressure that rapidly intensifies and the pressure is dropping very fast. but then it's also drawing in this atmospheric river. that's the connection to a bunch of extra moisture in the atmosphere due to it tapping into the tropics and bringing it right across the ocean. and now across the bay area. we are seeing the heaviest rain from san francisco on northward, mainly marin county, sonoma county, seeing the yellows and reds on our storm ranger. that's our mobile doppler radar that's picking up on some inte

meteorologist kari hall has been monitoring that. just 30 minutes ago.ting to get worse. yeah. and so for those surfers who like to hit the waves early in the morning, you do have to be very careful. and they're just saying to stay out of the water altogether because we are seeing an atmospheric river just to our north across the pacific northwest. and it's creating some very dangerous conditions out there in bodega bay. the wave heights are already at 15ft and may top 16ft as we go into today and into early tomorrow morning, as long along with those sneaker waves and rip currents temperature wise in pacifica, it's foggy and 45 degrees, and we'll see a mix of sun and clouds today. we're staying in the 50s here and all across the bay area. it will be overall a cooler than normal day with highs in the mid 60s from the coast to the inland valleys. today in the bay's ginger conejero saab is live in pacifica and ginger. authorities once again just saying just stay out of the water can be so dangerous today. that's right kari. and we're starting to see some of

meteorologist kari hall tracking what we can expect. a very cold morning out there, and we are seeing the rain clearing out, so we're going to take a break from any spotty activity that we've seen over the past couple of days as the rain chances stay mostly off the coast and we're getting some light sierra snow as we take a look at the north bay. the temperatures this morning start out in the mid 30s in calistoga, upper 30s for nap. it's 37 in danville and 35 it rose peak. we are seeing some of those very chilly temperatures settling in. and as we go throughout the day, it will be a touch cooler than it was yesterday with the high of 60 in san jose, 62 in concord, as well as 62 in napa. and it will be a very chilly weekend for the bay. so we'll talk more about that coming up. mike, you're saying too slow for the cone zone? yeah, you got to remember that because right now we still have folks who are working outside here. golden gate bridge crew looks like they're getting those cones picked up heading up for the morning commute. there wil

meteorologist kari hall has a look at that. we're seeing a wide range in our microclimates and the kind of weather that we're experiencing right now. we are seeing temperatures a little bit milder to start in the low 60s. walnut creek, now at 62 degrees 61 and raining in san francisco. but this very powerful storm continues to bring all of this heavy rain across the region. and eventually it's going to start to push farther to the south as some cold air swings down and kind of kicks it into gear, and we'll see much more of the bay area experiencing the wet weather that the north bay is seeing for now, a couple of days, and it's still coming down as our storm ranger tracks all of the pockets of heavier rain now moving through marin county, southern sonoma county, and up toward northern napa county into solano county. so we are seeing some of the lighter showers in san francisco over toward parts of the east bay and down the peninsula. but once again, the trend for today will be for parts of the tri-valley as well as the south ba

meteorologist kari hall is tracking just how long it will last.the cameras across the bay area. yes, a soggy morning commute. as we take a look at the east shore freeway. and we're going to see, at times, very slippery conditions and wet weather coming through at least for the next few hours. and the heavier rain rolling into the north bay as we speak. although we've already seen some light showers coming through, and it's mainly moving through parts of alameda county and contra costa county as well. from san ramon down to sunol, some light showers that are starting to wet, the roads on 680. and then we also have some rain that's moving into 280 near mountain view and continuing to move over the santa cruz mountains closer to san jose. our hour by hour forecast shows the rain continues for the north bay through 9 to 10:00, and then making it into the south bay shortly thereafter. and we are going to see a couple of hours of some rain moving through before it clears out later this evening. so i'll be tracking this for you. we do see more rain ahead

want to turn now to meteorologist kari hall? because we have a look at what people can expect as they go out, because it's going to be outside. a lot of people want to have fun. how is the weather looking? i think you want to keep dancing, to try to stay warm at the diwali celebration this weekend. we're going to start out at 57 degrees in san francisco. it will be clear for tomorrow evening, but once that breeze picks up and the temperature drops, it is going to be chilly out there. maybe you're heading into the chase center tomorrow night. here we're also looking at about the same temperatures in the low 50s, with a breezy wind. or you can join our mike inouye in san ramon for the kristi yamaguchi holiday ice rink. grand opening starts tomorrow night at 6:00. and look at the temperature 49 degrees. yes, it's going to be cool out there. i guess that's appropriate for ice skating, but if you're able to bundle up and spend a little bit more time outside this weekend, check it out. look at the night sky for the leonids meteor show

but first, let's check in with meteorologist kari hall. she's tracking the rain. how's it looking, kari? it's still raining in the north bay, and we are seeing very spotty rain elsewhere. but the system is still driving heavy amounts of rainfall across the north bay. as well as the rest of far northern california. a look at storm ranger. that's our mobile doppler radar. we have it parked on san bruno mountain. it is picking up on some light to moderate rain in parts of the north bay from sonoma county, extending upward toward lake and mendocino counties. but we also have a wave of showers from marin down to san francisco, as well as the peninsula and then some off and on light showers elsewhere in parts of the east bay. a closer look shows that it is still pretty much covered with wet weather across the north bay. and then also for san francisco. we have a light rain that continues this morning affecting your commute and as we go, hour by hour, we're still looking at more of this rain that will continue through 10 to 11:00, maybe even a little bit heavier as it con

we kick off our team coverage with meteorologist kari hall, who is tracking where the wet weather is at this hour. kari. so much rain. but you say the bay area certainly needs it. we need it, but not all at once. and we got a month's amount of rainfall all in one day. as we take a look at how much rain we measured in santa rosa, 6.92 just yesterday, and the old record was 6.09. that happened in 2021. so that was once again more than a month's worth of rainfall. that all happened in 24 hours. and we are seeing those significant rainfall totals all across the north bay with calistoga at about 6.5in of rain yesterday, mount tam had almost five inches of rainfall, and then you can see those numbers really dropping off as you move south of the golden gate bridge. so in san francisco, there was three quarters of an inch of rainfall. oakland had 4/10 of an inch of rain and almost nothing for hayward, as well as livermore and nothing for san jose. so we are still looking at some of the really significant rainfall totals that happened in the north bay and northern sonoma county, and varnado, w

we'll meet raj kari hall kari hall is taking care of all that for us. yes. show you the forecast for travel delays, some of the flight delays that we're seeing across the country, as well as what we're seeing here all across the state. you can see that long line of showers extending from arizona all the way up to the midwest. and as we check in with those delays, we are starting to see some delays for the newark airport that are averaging about an hour and a half. and then we have 30 minute delays now popping up around phoenix. but as we get a closer look at some of our local airports, it looks like now everything is on time. as we're now getting some clear weather. but looking as you're packing your bags, maybe you're heading elsewhere. we are seeing the blast of cold air coming in from canada and dropping those temperatures for parts of the upper plains states into the midwest. and then tomorrow that cold air expands even more. so we're going to see those areas farther to the north, like minneapolis staying below freezing. and then that cold air also pushi

meteorologist kari hall, of course, been monitoring that for us. right now it looks pretty calm out there. it is calm for the most part, and we're starting out clear. but we will start to see things changing for tomorrow. so we want to take some time to prepare today. and it's going to increase our fire danger with some of our hills and mountains. seeing gusts over 50mph and the wind increases and may be the highest late tomorrow night into wednesday. that means that we may have issues with power and trees coming down and an elevated fire danger across the bay area. let me show you example, an example of what we may see in san francisco. currently, the wind is at eight miles per hour, but look up to the north at mount saint helena. it is a 50 mile per hour wind that's already gusting, and this is before we're issuing that red flag warning and looking out for those dangerous conditions. so we're going to see some of our hills and mountains experiencing much different weather than what we'll have near the coast and in the valleys. so we'll talk more

meteorologist kari hall tracking what we can expect. yeah, we're all very sleepy this morning for halloween, but it's going to be a pretty nice day. we're taking a live look outside in san jose. a few clouds here and there. another cool start. we're now at 49 degrees as we go throughout the day, we are going to see those temperatures go from upper 40s to upper 50s. at 10:00, and then a gradual warm up heading into the afternoon, where temperatures are back to what we yesterday with upper 60s. it will be 66 in novato and 68 degrees in concord. and livermore, 66 degrees. then tomorrow we're seeing more of the same weather. after starting out with some clouds and the showers clearing, we are going to have a very nice saturday afternoon. we'll talk about what's ahead with that rain coming in tonight in just a few minutes, but mike, starting with the wrong-way driver on 101. ye, chp has been very busy overnight. we're looking at. actually, they just cleared this scene south 101 for 90 minutes. we had 101 fully or partially closed. as you tra

meteorologist kari hall is giving us a closer look at our weekend weather. things shaping up? it's definitely cold enough to make some snow, but as we take a look at palisades not too far from there, we are seeing temperatures headed for the mid 50s for the afternoons going into the weekend, but it will be chilly. yes, indeed. now, if you're staying here at home, we have lamalfa happening at the oakland zoo that's starting up this weekend and tonight it's going to be nice in the upper 60s, wearing the layers. of course, as we see the breezy winds and temperatures dropping down into the upper 50s later tonight. we also have restaurant week starting today. it's going to be in the upper 60s and throughout the weekend it is sweater weather, but it's going to be nice and sunny for the most part. if you plan to go to santa cruz, we are going to see lots of sunshine today. highs near 70 degrees, but it will be cooler as we go throughout the weekend. more clouds on saturday and if you're heading down to la this weekend, expect some low 70s for highs. overnight lows

meteorologist kari hall has the details for us. and we are going to be under this microclimate weather alert for quite a while. here's a look at the wide view of this storm system that has been so textboo. with the way it looks, this area of low pressure that's been spinning and drawing in all of this moisture across the pacific and targeting the bay area with some heavy rain that we are seeing right now. and we're going to continue to see the rain very slowly moving from to north south. but really, the north bay is in the focus for all of this rain that's going to continue for the next several hours. at times it may dip into san francisco as well as oakland over toward concord. but we're seeing the oranges and the reds mainly focused over santa rosa, san rafael as well as napa. so we're going to continue to see the waves of rain coming through. and every now and then we may get some spotty showers south of the golden gate bridge. but we are really focused on the north bay, where the rain will continue to pour. and that's where tem

meteorologist kari hall monitoring what we can expect out there. no rain and cold temperatures.e main story over the next few days. and it is starting out in the low to mid 50s right now. but a lot of clouds overhead and still some lingering rain for parts of the north bay as well as the east bay. and we're also seeing it near the coast. but as of now, the rain taking a break in san jose and it looks like we will stay dry here. temperatures in the mid 50s. it will be a cloudy day and we'll stay for the most part in the 50s. throughout the afternoon, briefly touching 60 degrees. and we're looking at cool weather all across the bay area and the next few mornings will be much colder. so we'll talk about that. mike, do you have some better news for highway 24 at least part of it. the good news is the alert has been cleared and canceled. that's eastbound 24. there were three separate crashes, including what sounded like a spinout in that eastbound direction that has cleared just past oak hill. but westbound, your commute is still jammed up and continuing to build with that crash, the

meteorologist kari hall look, you've been monitoring all of this.o see some relief there for a lot of those delayed flights we've been seeing. yeah. but you know, usually san jose is your better bet compared to san francisco where we are starting to see those delays coming up right now, 150 minute average delays. you better call ahead if you do have a flight today. but we're also seeing the flight delays starting to occur in washington, d.c. minutes on average. but once again, for the rest of the region, we are looking pretty good. as you head out, maybe from the south bay, here's a look at some of the temperatures you may experience as you're packing your bag and maybe heading somewhere else. we are seeing those temperatures. these are the highs in the upper seconds for minneapolis. we are seeing some low 50s for atlanta, new york city today. the high will be 40. and we're getting some rain and snow coming down across the region and across the pacific northwest. it's definitely cooler than the bay area as that rain continues. this is what you'll se

meteorologist kari hall is monitoring what we can expect from the weather today. kari, how's it looking? yeah, we've been talking about the best times to travel and get out on the roads, and i think now's a good time. looking at the conditions out there and we don't have any more rain lingering. but it's cold as our temperatures have dipped in some spots into the 30s. that's what we're seeing in the north bay. but elsewhere it is in the 40s and low 50s. chilly start, and it's going to be a very cool day. at least it will be sunny and that helps it feel a little bit better. but as we go through the afternoon in san francisco, we're staying in the 50s for this afternoon and upper 50s and low 60s elsewhere. one of the warmer spots will be the south county, with morgan hill, gilroy and in san martin, temperatures in the low 60s. tomorrow it's not much different. after a very cool morning. we're staying in the 50s and low 60s as well, and then into friday. there is still that cool weather that will be settling in and slight warming for some of the inland valleys that we

and meteorologist kari hall is tracking the dangerous wind conditions for us. ri? well, it's still gusty out there. janelle. we're seeing some of those high wind gusts and some of our hills and mountains. earlier this morning, mount saint helena had a gust of 88mph. i mean, it is roaring up there for those upper elevations. a lot of us in the valleys are feeling it as much, but there's still that potential of the fire danger that will stay elevated through tonight. red flag warning extended until 7 a.m. tomorrow due to the low humidity and high winds. temperature wise, we're going to be in the upper 60s and low 70s. and looking at our hour by hour wind gusts forecast by later this evening. the wind is calming significantly and we are looking at some nicer weather in the forecast heading into the weekend. janelle. thanks, kari and several bay area communities in the dark because of this red flag warning. pg&e has shut off power to customers in lake sonoma and napa solano counties. parts of the east bay hills and santa cruz mountains. and take a look at the specif
