we have weather anchor spencer christian joining us. we are not going to have a single dry day in the next seven days? spencer: that is exactly how it looks, we have a strong storm coming overnight into tomorrow. let's look at live doppler seven right now. there is not much happening. that huge area of green offshore is the storm approaching. it ranks a level three only exclusive abc7 storm impact scale. late tonight into tomorrow especially in the morning hours, look for moderate rain, there is a flood threat and maybe some mudslides and possible wind damage, as wind gusts will be quite strong. the storm will start pushing on shore probably before 9 p.m. during the overnight hours it will get intense. it will be intense for the morning commute tomorrow morning. it will start to wind down by midday into the early evening hours. we have a high wind warning in effect for most of the bay area till 10:00 tomorrow morning, with gusts up to it even above 60 miles per and of course, a winter storm warning remains in effect for the sierra until

karina: spencer christian is here with more details on that. ncer: we will start with a look at this building high pressure system out in the pacific. this is the dominant feature in our weather right now and will be for the next several days. we call it a storm blocker because it's a strong enough system to literally block or deflect any approaching storms. clear skies for the next few days. clear skies bringing nice sunny days. they also allow for clear skies in the absence of clouds to have temperatures dropping to chili levels around the bay area. freeze warning in effect from midnight tonight until 9:00 tomorrow for virtually all the inland areas of the bay area. the entire bay area except around the immediate shoreline and coast. temperatures down to 30 degrees or even lower in the cold the spots overnight. frost and theories will kill crops. protect tender plants, pets, and outdoor pipes. a nice view from our exploratorium camera. mainly clear skies r low 50's in san francisco. 49 at santa clara. 50 at half moon bay. clear skies over the

let's go first to spencer christian for the current position and tracking of the storm. spencer: here's a look at our satellite radar image. that storm just offshore is going to hit us into stages. it's coming out from the southwest, bringing in mild air and lots of humidity. we are not showing any activity but the storm will be rolling in over the next few hours. as we've said, the storm is a level five, the first five we've ever had. expect heavy rain, damaging wind, high flood threat, mudslides, rock slides, downed trees all expected. the first wave of the storm will surge on shore around 4:00 a.m. during the overnight hours, just before the morning commute begins. it will last five or six hours with heavy downpours, gusty wind. a bit of a break until early afternoon. the second wave sweeps and. that will be even stronger, bringing widespread areas of heavy downpours, continuous downpours, wind gusts up to 55 miles per hour. that will give way to more trailing waves of rain on thursday. rainfall estimates anywhere from an inch and a half in san francisco to nearly two

storm impact scale but we may end the day with a bit of sunshine so we are checking in with spencer christian for the very latest. spencer: we are looking in for sunshine. we have a few scattered showers but let's talk about this atmospheric river first because this is the system, this plume of moisture that's been flowing into the bay area for days and will continue for a wino. this is the plume of moisture on the river that our latest form -- there are more storms lined up in that direction as well. this atmospheric river is flowing in our direction and will continue for several days. here is our composite image over the last 12 hours. we have had wave after wave after wave of rain, some of it very heavy. it's beginning to lighten up and lose some of its intensity. more showers moving in our direction and some are falling as we look at live doppler 7. some activity in the north bay where all three counties are wechat the moment. the rain does not blanket all areas but it is falling rather steadily. in between santa rosa and sonoma county in napa county, that is one of our wettest spots at t
