"today in the bay" stephanie chuang joining us live in san ramon where she spoke to folks in the middle of the quake swarm. >> they are all taking it in stride this morning. because they were sleeping and these are very small earthquakes. the most important thing is large number of small earthquakes does not mean a large, damaging quake. we are talk about a record number of earthquakes in this area. let's take a look at our nbc bay area seismograph that captured a lot of the activity overnight. some magnitude 3.0 and that is the level where people start to feel shaking. the earthquake swarm under san ramon started on october 13th. since then, the usgs says there has been more than 400 quakes detected here. we spoke with one expert who said the biggest swarm was 1980 in alamo. now, nbc bay area earthquake map from the usgs shows the activit. experts say there is a 72% chance of at least one magnitude 6.7 or greater quake causing widespread damage. somewhere in the bay area in the next 30 years. the likely of it happening along the calaveras fault is small at 7%. people taking it in strid
