justin finch is live this morning with a look at why you might see gas prices going up. , good morning. >> good morning. we're looking at 2.59 for regular right now in falls church. if you thought gas was cheaper this time last year, chances are you are right. prices are averaging up right now. with summer around the corner, aaa says that will not change. aaa says the price for regular unleaded is about 2.28 per gallon. the same price for us in the d.c. metro area. gas is up for regular about 50 cents plus per gallon than this time a year ago. averaging about 2.49 a gallon. that's up from 30 cents or so from this time a year ago. as for what's driving prices, aaa says the switch over to summer blend gas and refinery maintenance is behind that. drivers telling us they're considering their options. >> carpooling a lot more. definitely carpooling more. for sure. with co-workers. i work at a restaurant. definitely going to started doing that. there are also issues we can't account for like refinery incidents at those places where they process that gas. also, too try searching

justin finch begins our team coverage right now. >> reporter: this is now a fatal single vehicle wreckgation. one woman dead and one male driver now facing dui charges. the backup continues here on route 28 northbound. the loudoun county sheriff's office remains here on scene investigating the scene here. this is where this all begins, a jeep crashing into that median and that there is the jeep involved at the heart of this investigation. we know two women were ejected from that jeep. one has died, the other did survive but is injured and expected to survive from her injuries. as you can see they're prepping now to remove that jeep here from the scene. the male driver here was injured as well and he is now facing dui charges. this all happened about 2:00 or so this morning. the investigation has congested traffic here for some time. we're watching cars being diverted on to the dulles toll road here from route 28 northbound which is closed here in this particular area. i know melissa is tracking this back in the studio. i'll send it now in to her. >> so let's take another live look here

as news4's justin finch reports it will take a while to clean up the mess in germantown, maryland. >> reporter: neighbors tell us they are waiting for the second phase of cleanup after this large limb fell about 11:00 or so last night. this is not a tree. it is a very large limb that separated about 11:00 or so last night, we are told, falling the length of about four parking spaces here, vehicles, a toyota sedan and a toyota pickup truck here. both of those vehicles suffering heavy damage to the back facing parts of their vehicles. we are told from neighbors that no one-loss power overnight. that's a relief. the biggest issue right now is clearing away this large limb. we also spoke to a woman who lives just feet away from the limb and here's what she had to say about what happened last night. >> literally just a few feet from your front door. >> yeah. at first i thought it hit, like, the roof of the house. i thought there was a dent or something. so when we got out, we wouldn't even open the door. there was no room. so they cut like a path so we could get out. >> reporter: now the r

justin finch is live this head back to class today. >> reporter: eun, good morning. back to class with plans in place for threats like these. on monday morning more than 100 people here at the jewish day school were evacuated. let's take you now to a map. one of three local campuses threatened including the jewish day school in annapolis and the charles e. smith jewish day school in rockville. these hoax bomb threat calls came in almost back to back on monday morning. one about 9:17. then about 15 minutes later charles e. smith in rockville and closer to 10:00 a.m. another was called. authorities swept the campuses for explosives. none were found and no reports of injuries. two did evacuate but the smith campus did not saying its security remained ramped up. >> we have been increasing security. we've of measures. we have local police who are here at dropoff and pickup every day and that's new this year. and that's really in response just to the heightened security concerns that we have. >> reporter: and here at the jewish day school, people say they are raising their
